sadly though i can only get that speed at off peak times, lol it went downhill.. they added 2 new channels which was fine for a while.. and now its back to not so good

jitter for me also seems the same

Sorry to confuse you RB I was replying to HamsterHams post above mine regarding his firewall being off

thanks to me and a few others pushing the buffering issues on VM forums , some said there was no jitter caused by the device :p

Agreed, but that's why I have remote control plugs .....

yeah definitely an improvement with those stupid buffers. mine still sucks although its obvious the SH has stabilized with this firmware, I can max out at ease...

There was something I used to do that seemed to reset it. One of the filter settings I think, I can't remember. Good to have though.

No it isn't.

DNS and fixed IPs are not related and are frequently set separately. Almost all routers allow you to set them separately. Windows does too.

Sweet, another SNAFU then.

Admittedly, credit where it's due, it looks *so far* (as in, it hasn't actually been a full 24 hours or come round to peak time yet) that there's a huge improvement in latency with this new firmware. Which should bring with it big performance improvements across the network once it's rolled out more widely.

Course it's too late for the 2012H1 OFCOM national broadband report but chances are we'll see the benefits in the H2 report.

Never said that routers don't allow them to be set separately.. what I meant was that they're normally part of the same module/form in the router firmware and as the VM network DHCPs their IP's (including DNS) they've probably removed the whole form in the firmware that allows a user to set their own and defaulted to purely DHCP...

If you could still telnet then it would be easy to set the DNS but you can't..
