Just like Film 4HD is exclusive to virginmedia and Virginmedia also withhold access to its 100Mb capable broadband network. In a lot of areas Virginmedia have no competition for hi-speed broadband.

Virginmedia resell Sky1,Sky2,Skyports1,2,3,4,Sky news,Skysportsnews,Skyliving and many more plus they also resell BT ADSL but what do they give anyone else?

They try to force consumers to sign upto there own cable network by refusing to allow any other company access to it. Considering they cover 12 million homes I feel that is unfair.

Can you watch SkyF1, SkySports 3&4,Skynews on Virginmedia? YES

Can you watch the films from the 6 major studios on Virginmedia? YES

The ITV HD deal is not exclusive to Sky ITV have stated Virgin are free to have it.

Sky should approach the banks that own Virginmedias £6BILLION debt about getting access to Virginmedias broadband network.

Better to have a true fact rather then a false one.

ITV HD channels are not exclusive to Sky, ITV 1HD was exclusive to Freesat but never to Sky. It is absolute FACT Virginmedia could negotiate a carriage deal for itv 2,3,4HD if they really wanted to. Its nothing to do with Sky purely down to VM and ITV.

According to Smallworld owner David Durford:

"ITV2 HD is not available to us due to the lock-out signed into the carriage agreement with the other operators. We would like to carry it, and in time we will be able to. I can't go into to much specifics but we have discussed it with ITV at the moment but (as with Five) the cost of them is prohibitive at this moment in time, due to the Sky contract. That may be why VM are holding back, but of course I cannot speak for them."

Re: General Sky TV Discussion

The point is there is no "Exclusivity contract" with Sky if ITV are being greedy and creating deals that they believe will bring them more money then contact ITV and tell them you think its unfair.

I believe the issue is ITV 2,3,4HD are behind a pay wall on Sky (ITV''s request) so they get part of the subs, For Virginmedia and Smallworld to carry them they also must put them behind a paywall. Which means they will have to give up some subs money.

They obviously don't think its worth it to their subscribers. ITV are a business at the end of the day and things like this become a problem for providers that give inclusive HD channels.

Virginmedia should consider a small HD fee like maybe £4 a month and explain to customers if they want the bestHD content then it costs money to produce, broadcast, and for Virginmedia to buy in. When Virginmedia customers moan Sky want to much for some HD content they need to understand Sky customers pay £10 a month for HD. So for that £10 they deserve better content than Virginmedia are giving for free, or inclusive in the package. You can't have it both ways if Virgin charged for HD they could afford Atlantic and the rest of the channels.

Allowing your customers to blame Sky is to easy and Virign are happy to sit back and let it happen.

Re: General Sky TV Discussion

What is more likely is, Virgin want the channels on the cheap, and are not willing to pay a fair price.

I agree, it is more likely that however much ITV want for 2,3,4HD Virgin have decided its too much.

No it is more likely that Sky have massively paid over the odds for some type of fixed term exclusive deal.
