What we must hope is that the government survives but learns to keep the press barons and media at a barge poles length and that any regulatory body is not only recognised by the media but is applicable to all newspapers and it will be easily used by the public at large if the industry won't or can't clean up it's act.

It won't bring down the Government. The Tories are just as complicit as the Labour. However this is more a realistic consequence of the media's power imo.

People didn't fight wars to force us to vote you know.

I think voting should be made easier so it fits in with our busy lives, I mean voting on a Thursday, how about on a Sunday and incorporate it into the school fate/ church bizarre or text voting, if it can tell us who has won big brother it should cope with elections easily and without a whiff of controversy as long as itv are kept out of it. They could bring in an incentive to vote scheme rather than a fine to, council tax goes up twenty percent but you get a twenty two percent discount if you vote in all the elections.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt "acted wisely" in his handling of the BSkyB takeover bid, David Cameron has said.
The PM said he had sought advice from the cabinet secretary before deciding to give responsibility for the bid by News Corp to the culture secretary.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Cameron said the culture secretary had given "a good account of himself" to the Leveson Inquiry and to Parliament.

Well he would.wouldn't he? He's not going to say anything else to put his judgement under the spotlight.

maybe few moons ago remember he kept repeating the question on and on, refused to answer it.

In fact, when he died, the Telegraph reported

no not thinking robin day not sure she refused interviews but some mp's did. The other one he was right obnotious interviewer but cant think of his name think he was on itv not sure.

He was very good kept repeating questions he had many mp's in mess. In the end I believe Mp's started to refuse to go on his show calling him rude bully.

Interesting definition of Wise, and possibly legal He publicly stated he was in favour of the bid before he was put in charge of it, and showed a personal relationship (by swapping all the texts) with the people in charge of a company he is supposed to have made an impartial decision over.

David Cameron is apparently just as "wise" by publicly supporting a man who could drag his government under.

So Warsi is to be investigated but Hunt goes through on the PM's nod..
