Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)
You've got to ask the question, whats the point of great broadband speeds if there's nothing to download/upload. I've read and agreed with many of the posts on here access isn't a problem with proxies / vpn or even a little sploiting server side, however a time will come when many more sites will fall under the same veil of hmm..protection. Rather than moving forward many will move back onto slower, cheaper alternative connections as the service gets cut back.

Ah, but it'll be worth the money when you can talk as fast as your fingers can type. Can you imagine? I'm really trying not to

Re: The Pirate Bay is blocked (Discuss but do not post detail of how to get round it)
One thing puzzles me, I was sent a link from a friend last night on irc depicting the court ruling and it goes onto say that the ban only affects piratebay.org so why are the isps making such an effort to hunt down every link that rears its head. Whats to stop someone such as myself hosting this site on a server with a backdoor.

I'm not sure what's happening with BT but this article seems to suggest there will be a separate order for them as they were not included in the first order .I don't know if it is just a poorly worded article but it definitely suggests that BT have their own plans which may not be just a simple blocking of the ip address
Quote:
BT has been granted more time to respond to an order to block The Pirate Bay that was handed down by the UK's High Court in London late on Friday afternoon.
The Register understands that a separate announcement from BT is imminent.
"We continue to have discussions with the BPI and we hope to announce an outcome acceptable to both of us soon," said the national telco today, explaining its absence from the order dished out to telcos including TalkTalk, BSkyB and Virgin Media by Mr Justice Arnold.
Meanwhile, those ISPs slapped with the order, which followed a judgment in February that found that infamous BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay and its users violated record labels' copyright, have offered up their immediate reactions.
