V+ scientific atlanta box losing signal

I have 2 V+ boxes. Just recently my upstairs box stopped working and the tv had the message "no signal".
The box had the "online/live tv" and channel number lit up??
I tried swapping it with the working downstairs box with the same result and, just to check a connection or HDMI cable fault, I took the working downstairs box upstairs and it worked. Proving there is no fault with the connections or tv.
I rang VM and was put through to India he did a few things and asked me the make of box. After a few minutes the picture appeared. I asked him what he had done and he said he had changed the output to 720.
Great I thought but it has gone again????
Before I call again is there anyone out there who has solved this problem or is it a faulty box??
If I call VM can I call someone direct to get the box changed??

You said you swapped boxes and the problem moved with box - so sounds like a faulty box to me. A power reset didn't solve it.

Not sure why changing to 720 should be seen as a solution, though? Phone support must have been going for a break ;-)

You can ring (or post on Virgin forum) for an engineer to come and check it - but it is up to the tech whether it needs swapping. He may well try formatting it first, so you will lose any recordings on it.

Re: V+ scientific atlanta box losing signal

It's possible your box is forgetting the video resolution. Setting it to 720 fixed it temporarily but it has lost it again.

Call again. They will see from your account that you have already called once about the same fault and should book a tech for you.

Do I have to go through the endless 150 phone menu and get India again or can I call direct?

Dial 151 for faults. 150 is Customer Service.

No matter where your call gets routed they should handle it the same.

Re: V+ scientific atlanta box losing signal

It will soon be sorted. I've been thinking of upgrading my broadband anyway as I'm only on 10mb. While chatting about the box problems I also mentioned Tivo. The upshot is I'm getting 60mb B/B ,Tivo 500gb and obviously a superhub for £2.50 extra. I'm nearly on the top package anyway. One of my V+ boxes will have to be returned so guess which one that will be??
