An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale has been felt in parts of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) described the quake at 1806 GMT as weak, with its epicentre 6km (3.7 miles) from Bromyard.

Sandra Green, in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, told the BBC she felt a "thud through the whole house".

A loud bang which sparked a deluge of calls to emergency services across a large part of England was a sonic boom from a Typhoon aircraft, the MoD said.

Mystified residents across the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset and Wiltshire reported hearing a loud boom at about 18:10 BST.

Both? Or just one is correct? We had loud bangs down here too... thunder I reckon.

I am shocked mod said that usual is denial last year they denied it. 2 eurofighters according to fightercontrol on QRA. No wont abreviate do know what it means.

Actually heared couple claps thunder earlier in day.

BGS not got up on the site ruling the earthquake unless its 2 seperate incidents BGS on slow day.

From MoD - An MoD spokesman said two Royal Air Force Typhoon aircraft had been authorised to go supersonic after a small civilian helicopter had emitted an emergency signal.
They were already in the air and on their way to the helicopter by the time the pilot realised he was transmitting on the wrong frequency and switched to the correct one.
The MoD response was standard procedure after receiving such a signal, the spokesman added.
It is the second time this year that a sonic boom has been created by a Typhoon aircraft.
In January, the MoD confirmed that a loud noise heard by people across the North of England was caused by an RAF fighter jet breaking the sound barrier.

getting more intriging apparantly UFO we loosly say unidentified object was photographed. Trick of light indeed helicopter?? certainly food for thought.

Must been shock for sleepy bath to have eurofighters around very noisy I am used to them around. Yanks in hornets often around too.

My first thoughts it was drill for olympics when heared about this bang.

We already had this our way noisy beggers used full reheat 500 feet as I was leaving shop lots off noise. Wondered where they off in hurry then found about excercise.

indeed there is write up reply said used telescope said it was balloons and triangle shaped.

Its quite mystery for sure.

We can only go with what officially told.
