Warning over co-codamol tablets

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17487432

Quote:
The UK medicines regulator has issued a warning after the wrong strength of tablets was put into some packets of the painkiller co-codamol.
Some packs in batch LL11701, expiry date of September 2014, which should contain 8mg/500mg strength tablets have higher strength 30mg/500mg tablets.Wockhardt UK Ltd, which makes the medicine, is recalling the batch.
Quote:
Ian Holloway, MHRA head of the Defective Medicines Report Centre said: "If you have a packet of the affected medicine, return it to your pharmacist who will replace it.
"If you think you have taken the wrong strength tablet, and in the unlikely event that you feel unwell, speak to your pharmacist or GP promptly."
Neal Patel, pharmacist at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, said: "Patients who may have taken a larger dose of codeine than anticipated may feel more drowsy so should not drive.
"Other possible side effects include confusion, headaches, nausea and vomiting.
I don't suppose that anyone has any of these but it doesn't hurt to be aware if you use the product.

LOL, I would like to agree but the one downside with co-codamol is being bunged up
Just this moment took 2 30/500 for my sciatica

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

I'm on the 30/500's myself so this warning isn't an issue..

Doesn't tend to bung me up but I do have to take them on a full stomach otherwise my tummy growls at everyone for the next couple of hours!!!

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

Same here, I've never had any side effects from mine other than in my younger days when I used CWE to get more out of them, and then I was itching all over for hours - NEVER again

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

I was once prescribed these, and I took them once. NEVER AGAIN.

I had several of the listed side-effects, and I felt utterly weird for several hours. Note to self: never ever do any codeine or codeine-derived drugs. Bad juju, man, real bad.

Yes, I itched, too. Horrible.

To help get the message across maybe the thread should be sticky for awhile.

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

Yes l have to be very wary with the painkillers l take simply because certain painkillers can affect cardiac function in some patients and some painkillers l have taken in the past have not just affected my cardiac function but also my kidney function as well.

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

co-codamol in my experience defenitly has more downsides than paracetomal and ibrupofen but also is more powerful. I last took them after I had some teeth extracted.

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

I love my Co-Codamol when I get a really sore back. Work wonders

Although I was given dihydrocodeine when I had a kidney infection last year. Only took one and have not been near then ever again! Knocked me out for hours and left me feeling spaced out for a few hours after that! Mega strong.

Re: Warning over co-codamol tablets

It is my experience that Co-Codamol is absolutely useless at real pain control. It never, ever worked on my migraines. But then nothing worked and my doctor wouldn't give me anything stronger.
