Re: Football Season 2011/12

City will move the game on, if not this season then the one after. Once that happens can't see us living with them.

Not a fan of all these rich owners coming in buying the league in the end they will all go and then where will all the clubs be then

But we already have a European Super League via the Champions league and that is good enough for most people.

Port Vale have formally entered administration, meaning the League Two club have been deducted 10 points.

Administration was confirmed on Friday at a hearing in Birmingham, following an application at the High Court on Tuesday by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The action concerns outstanding loan payments, while Vale have been hit with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill.

Vale have dropped to 15th in League Two, 12 points from the play-offs.

The club are currently under a transfer embargo and staff and players have only been paid 25% of their wages.
And the question now must be who is next?

please stop Alan. this has been widely debated already to which it firmly got scrapped. the EPL is healthy.. the euro comps CL and EL are good.. changes need to be made with technology.. goal line... a 5th offical having a tv set.. ref rulings where by authorties can over rule a refs desicion even if he saw it/put it in his report etc. etc.

So why are so many clubs in financial trouble (becuase of their attempts to beat the major clubs) and why do have have to pay this guy to see a football game in the UK?

Re: Football Season 2011/12

some managers find cheap gems. most throw money. theres the support side too. some team fail to find revenue.. others dont. theres a whole wide range of issues..

the english premier league is extremely attractive and wealthy because the stadiums are filled. i cant remember the percentage but its high. thats mirrors with the appeal of the league and certain clubs, tv rights etc. which go through the authorties of the game. then come the owners/wealthy people with their cash.

its complex.. moving to some euro elite leagues solves nothing.. paper over the cracks is pointless. the issues are deeper

But the EPL is dominated by the major clubs, much to the expence to the other Premier/Football League clubs

Re: Football Season 2011/12

it can change though. i hate to say it but look at tottenham.. low wage bills.. can improve but it takes stability to do that. newcastle too.. can the two teams carry it on and improve? or clubs just throw money from the get go.. even those at the bottom middle whatever.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

most leagues in Europe and even the rest of the world are the same though. Dominated by the same few clubs.

Spain - Real and Barca
Portugal - The Lisbon and Porto clubs
Holland - The Amsterdam and Rotterdam clubs

It's the same all over the place and the only time it seems to change these days is when a rich owner takes over club

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says they do not plan to sell captain Robin van Persie, even if Cologne forward Lukas Podolski joins the club.

Van Persie is yet to agree a contract extension beyond summer 2013, while BBC Sport understands Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Podolski, 26.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini said this week that he was interested in signing the Dutchman.

Wenger said: "Our plan is to keep Robin van Persie even if we buy any player."

Discussing Manchester City's interest in Van Persie, he added: "What is said of you by other clubs is part of the job.
l suspect Arsenal fans will be glad to hear this.
