Fabio Capello: Players and pundits react to resignation
•Striker Wayne Rooney: "Gutted Capello has quit. Good guy and top coach. Got to be English to replace him. Harry Redknapp for me."
•Defender Rio Ferdinand: "So Capello resigns....what now...."
•Midfielder Jack Wilshere: "People have their own judgement on Capello but for a young player who was given the chance to play for my country at such a young age he has shown great belief and trust in me so I can only thank him."
•Right-back Kyle Walker: "Gutted to see Fabio Capello go, he put a lot of trust in me and gave me my first cap. just want to say a big thanks really.
"
•Full-back Glen Johnson: "Sad news to see Capello step down. Good man and a Good manager."
•Ex-England striker Michael Owen: "Don't know if was just me but it never felt right in the first place knowing the England manager was heading off after the Euros regardless."

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Redknapp will not bring success to England. In 3 or 4 years there'll be calls for him to be sacked. Taylor, Hoddle, McClaren, all English managers heralded as saviours but 1966 was still the last trophy.

I think he would get the team playing well and motivated. We won't win but as long as we reach a quarter final or semi final people will be happy.

I wish the politicians would stay away from commentating on these sorts of things and get on with their job,i can picture Mr Cameron now programme in hand waiting for the match to start.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16960731
I thought all of that had stopped when one Mr "cool britannia"Blair went.

l think hoping for politicians to keep their mouths shut is like hoping England will win the World Cup Richard.

Denphone yes! it just makes them look daft, doubt if David Cameron has much of an opinion but felt obliged to say something.
Reminds me of when Mr Blair wanted to meet the ashes winning cricket team for a photo shoot, behind the scene they were taking the micky as it was obvious he knew nothing about the sport, why oh why do politicians do it to themselves.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
David Cameron would have been asked it and said something that doesn't cause any issues.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
If Redknapp does leave Spurs to go for the England job, I have a feeling that they will bomb in the league. I mean, look at how crap they were before Redknapp walked out of Portsmouth and went to them. Much as I am anti Spurs, they will end up regretting it if they let Harry go to England until after the Euros.
Then bring in Jose Mourinho, although my aunt will be gutted if he does. She loves Jose but hates Spurs (she's a Chelski fan).
