Re: Football Season 2011/12

Plus the fact that our FA made such an uproar over Sepp Blatter's comments on racism being settled with a handshake that letting John Terry stay as captain would have made us look like hypocrites. I couldn't care less if John Terry is a racist or not, as long as he can use his brain cell to make sure that if he has to make comments such as the one he is accused of saying in private where no-one can hear him say it, and therefore there cannot be such an uproar over it in the future.

I've always rated him as a bloody good defender and a leader on the pitch, it is a shame that he has such a dodgy moral compass that seems to permeate throughout the whole of the game of football nowadays. Now it seems to be about money, how many women they can sleep with in a night and how big their bank balance is.

Whatever happened to playing football because it was a boyhood dream to play for your favouritge football club? Apart from Best, I can't think of a single player in the game between the 1870's and 1980's that behaved like the animals of today's game.

That's not what I was getting at, The point I tried to make is that if anyone was going to take the armband away it should have been the England Manager who has experience as a top level footballer playing for a top team in the world. has countless footballing honours and is not just simply a businessman from FCUK that did good business for Manchester City.

The FA doesn't have an image and moral problem with allowing someone that was facing trial for Tax evasion to manage a club competing in their league though do they? Funny that when he's hinted to be the next England manager.

One rule for one and one rule for another.

If the England manager cant speak his mind, Good luck finding a world class manager that will take that crap

You can only count today's footballers that are there for the game and not the money in 2 digits. Anything think Samuel Eto'o is playing in Russia because he wants too? Or because he enjoys picking up his £200,000+ a week pay. A lot of Footballer's tell fans what they want to hear when in reality its far from the Truth. Michael Owen a while back : I am enjoying playing for Newcastle United, Delighted to be here and will give it my all and score goals... Why lie out your arse Michael? You must think we are all blind or something.

But he didn't take away the armband and showed no hint of doing so. The FA, with an eye towards the reputation of the national team and our credibility when demanding racism is tackled by FIFA.

What a ridiculous comparison! I really don't know where to start? They haven't forbidden Terry from playing in their league either, Funny that. What Harry Redknapp's trial did do was a place a massive question mark over his eligibly to be the next England manager. The stripping of the captaincy has nothing to do with the league.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

So the right way to do it is to remove someone's captaincy before proven guilty to protect the dismal reputation of the England National Team? To make the FA look big.. The same FA that spat their dummy's out and cried corruption when we didn't get the World Cup. We'll both have different opinions on the decision as is clear but I guess I just dont have any respect for the English F.A any more so I'm showing Bias to John Terry with this case and my argument is invalid.

one cannot be punished until it is official and the court - a non-sport court, a civil court - had made a decision to decide if John Terry has done what he is accused of
Can't be any worse than having Mike Bassett I suppose.. Or McClaren for that matter.

Yes. This is not uncommon. People step down from certain duties whilst awaiting trial for a crime which would, if found guilty, seriously impact on your ability to do that job.

Your argument is invalid based on it's merits alone. Nothing to do with any bias.

Exactly, imagine if God forbid we actually manage to win the thing and the next week he's found guilty, tainted or what.

Fabio Capello has resigned as England manager, the Football Association has confirmed.

Capello resigned after a meeting with FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne at Wembley.

An FA statement read: "The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England manager."

On Monday, the Italian publicly challenged the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy.

The FA's statement continued: "The discussions focused on the FA Board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview.

"In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England manager with immediate effect."

Bernstein said: "I would like to stress that during [the] meeting and throughout his time as England manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner.

"We have accepted Fabio's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future."

Anyone fancy placing a bet on how long before Rednapp gets sacked as England manager?
