I didnt say isnt significant, but I dont think thats the reason for the 92mbit specification, because if it was VM would then be in trouble for rolling out the service on 4 downstreams.

Yes I know this, I was responding to someone's question about there being equipment that doesn't support 20meg.

On the "new equipment" side, are there any modems still in service that are not 20Mb capable (mine's a 256, so I'm good).
|
It was mostly anecdotal, as you said it's not supported but people do still use it - mostly people that have PC's so old, they don't even have ethernet ports, or people that (for some reason) have both ethernet and USB connected up (and wonder why they get slow speeds, or why their router/other PC doesn't work).

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Assume my NTL250 will handle 20MB ok, and I won't need a Superhub ?

From the ex-ntl side the 200 (I think), 250, 255 and 256 are all fine for 20Mbit.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Just remember that for the most part, the Superhub is fine as a modem and you can continue to keep and use any router that you may own.

It is fine as is the superhub in Modem Mode as it is a better modem than the 250.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Can I remind you all that silly names for VM equipment is against the forum rules. Stick to the official term of Superhub.
Thanks.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Slightly over the top that Stephen for a harmless bit of humour. The fact that so many are having to use bridge mode indicates the 'Superhub' isn't fit for purpose. Still lets move on.......

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
I am currently on the L 10mb service, i have noticed a page has appeared on the website
http://shop.virginmedia.com/existing...broadband.html
Quote:
Upgrade from up to 10Mb or up to 20Mb broadband to up to 30Mb
Pay no extra for three months
it says that 3 months will be current price then goto higher price. Can I get this if dont have/dont want a phone line
