It is though London 2012 and not UK 2012.. The city is awarded the Olympics and the rest of the world is invited..

Wherever I am on the 27th July, home or holiday I will watch the opening/closing ceromony.

I am going to go to Hyde Park (presuming I get tickets!). There is going to be a special concert and then, hopefully, the opening ceremony on the screen. I hope they use Hyde Park and the other locations that will be streaming the ceremonies as part of the show itself. One of the impressive things about the Royal Wedding was the cuts to places outside the Westminster Abbey and the people singing and waving flags. We may not be able to compete with Beijing on budget but I think we could on passion and style.

Re: London 2012 - Overhyped?
I am not a sports person & i think I will be bored to death if it is on the TV all the time. I wish they would keep it to the one channel, but I suppose that is not possible. If it helps the economy good & well. But sometimes they run at a loss.

I thought it was all BBC, do ITV have it as well? Don't worry, you can watch Euro 2012 just before

No ITV pulled out of sharing the Olympic TV rights a few years ago so it is exclusive to the BBC now.

Good, no adverts to interrupt the action.

The 'good' news is the money's already been spent or committed so there's no point crying over spilt milk - the only sensible thing to do is make sure the whole thing's as successful as possible. It'd be churlish and self defeating to do anything else. Of course all the relevant decisions were made well before the the financial muck hit the fan so it'd be unfair to blame Red Ken, Boris or indeed HMG for having to make the best of it.
Anyway, it's about time I got some real value out of the Beeb in return for my licence fee so I'm delighted.

oh i daresay there will be all manner of stories from the red tops about figures being manipulated ,dodgy deals done under the table and other such nonsense.I said in another thread that it is a chance for patrotism and support for our athletes ,a chance for Great Britain to be proud of itself and i stand by that

Agree, if mistakes have been made we can deal with them afterwards so let's hope the media are responsible in the way they report the lead up to the games and put UK PLC's interests before their own.
