One of the fundamental things that has to be looked at it is how political parties are funded. As things stand policy is made to favour the paymasters rather than what is best for the country.

So long as they do not ask me as a taxpayer to fund their parties,state funded political parties have been on their radar for a while ,but i think in the present climate they dare not introduce it.
