TiVo in the US doesn't have WiFi either - over there TiVo sell a Ethernet to WiFi bridge adapter which needs to be powered seperately

The fact it is wider but not as long would make it much more comfortable for those with small hands. Obviously the colour buttons are in the wrong order but AFAIK the red button functions will still be done with the leftmost one in the row. I could do away with the USB keyboard too, which I like as a means to manage links and type search text but is a bit cumbersome for regular use.

We're quite lucky, as since the upgrade the TiVo can be controlled in more than one way. Here's the full list as I know it:
  • Regular VM-branded long remote
  • US TiVo Bluetooth slide remote with keyboard
  • Regular USB keyboard or PS/2 keyboard with USB adapter
  • TiVo Commander Android app
  • Modified version of official US TiVo iPad/iPhone app
  • Simple "Peanut" remote iPhone app
  • Windows "VM TiVo Net Remote" beta, written by Andy Wheeler
Worth pointing out, that if you are using Andy Wheeler's app then you can use your PC/laptop keyboard for text entry

It's worth me trying it just for that! How do you do text entry on it?

Sorry, seems I've gotten myself involved with a subject I clearly knew nothing about.

I'll try not to let my misguided thoughts get out of control!

Just run the app and connect to your TIVO (make sure you've enabled network remote control on the TIVO), and when you have a text entry box on screen (I've tried it in the main search) then you can just use the laptop keyboard to type. You don't need to do anything special. You can also use up/down, left/right arrows and the enter key to navigate the menus which is a bit quicker for me.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

If anyone is interested the 3 new channels now have channel logos in TV Guide and Mini Guide.

Also in the discovery bar it's says " are you having problems with Youtube " if you press on it it goes to the Old Youtube app. It does not appear in the discovery bar that often.

Can you be a little bit clearer please. When you say connect it to your TV i assume you mean for separate audio as this will normally be done via the HDMI cable.

I have my V+ box connected to the cinema system via the Optical cable.

Sorry.

At the moment I've got my Tivo box running to my cinema system via HDMI. Can I run an optical lead straight into the back of my TV also from my TiVO?

Don't understand why you would want to.

If the tivo is connected via HDMI to your amp, the normal thing to do is connect the amp output to the TV via HDMI

Unless you want to get sound from the TV without using the amp? Some AV amps have HDMI pass through, which wil do that. mine doesn't but I always have the amp on anyway; why not have good quality sound all the time?

Yep sound without using the amp when I'm watching SD normal TV and can turn amp off.

How do I know if my amp has HDMI pass through. It's a Yamaha RX V1900.
