How to tell which DOCSIS I am on?

Hi, there is massive problem with the DOCSIS3 in my area.

How to tell if I am on DOCSIS 1 or 3?

Which modem do you have and what's your linespeed?

It's a bit confusing as your prefix is 10M yet you say 30Mb in your profile? Do you want the prefix changing??

Re: How to tell which DOCSIS I am on?

Sorry for the lack of info. Down graded today but still using the superhub, VM sent out a VGM280 instead of the modem.......how could they get that wrong?

speed check show I am on the 10M but it looks like I am still on the DOCSIS 3 but with the speed cap at 10M hence the question on how to find out which DOCSIS.

packet loss started half an hour ago so I guess no difference except the speed cap.

If you have a superhub and the arrow light is Blue then you are on 3 if its green then your on 1 i think.

VM sent me a replacement wireless router but sent me the superhub too for some reason, ever since activating that connection issues, packet loss, bad ping... went back to intermittently faulty "hub" and connection is back full speed again.
Not sure why this was.

Re: How to tell which DOCSIS I am on?

If you start off on DOCSIS3 (and 30Mbps is) then downgrading to 10Mbps is just a config change and you'll remain on DOCSIS3. I'd hoped to escape oversubscription on 50Mbps by doing the same as you a few weeks back and found this. At least it's cheaper.

Don't see how you'll get a modem as Virgin don't have any modems left. It's either the VMDG280 or the SuperHub

Ah, that makes sense, thats why the VMDG280 arrived instead. I still don't understand why they can't reactivate the NTL modem I have been using up until 2000

VM seem to want to get as much DOCSIS1 kit off the network as possible.

Re: How to tell which DOCSIS I am on?

You guys are so right! I recieved another VMDG280 today ..... you know that I know that and why the person who order it don't? sure a internal memo to say modem is not available is cheaper than sending multiple hardware?

I am hoping its so they can move docsis1 channels to docsis3 use which I assume would increase docsis3 capacity. However this also means the docsis1 users moving over which if the docsis1 was oversubbed will mean a negative impact.
