I have asked this question before and the reply is don't hold your breath
SKY like to control HD content they own or right to view exclusive to SKY customers, we only got SKY Sports 1 & 2 in HD because OFCOM forced their hand

I hope STV goes after all the Scottish ones then sell Channel 3 to ITV so it will be called ITV1 Scotland.

To put my point in further detail, I feel that we do not need more channels, we need our current main channels (BBC, ITV, C4, C5) to be better
And as for local TV, we already use to have this, it was ITV (before the 1990 broadcasting act)
I just feel that, the government should prioritise over this

What would most likely happen is that ITV plc would fully take over STV Group plc (owner of both ITV stations in scotland). They can easly do that!

That post was for more channels for Virgin TV, What I meant was more main channels (you know BBC, ITV, C4, C5) would be a bad idea, If there is going to be Local Tv channels, then the BBC should own and run them, with funding from the government or a increase in the lisence fee

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
I agree with Alan, we don't need these local channels. what are they going to fill them with, most towns struggle to fill a weekly newspaper with news, how are they going to fill a daily news slot. All we will end up with is low cost low quality programmes that no one will bother to watch. Give the money to the BBC regional broadcasts instead
I remember having a local TV channel on C&W years ago in London, low quality dross, I'd find Price-Drop TV more stimulating

Well said, I would agree that this idea is a big waste of time, in the end, all the local TV channels will end up merging to form Channel 6 plc

Well It needs to be increased by 20% just to maintain its current services, plus finance the world service and S4C which it has been forced to do, for extra or better services, it would need to go up even more

Another thing, any news on ITV 2/3/4 HD, it been over a year now, so will we be getting it?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
ITV 2/3/4 HD have now become the No. 1 HD add-on traget in my view for VM, especially now that live fottball is being shown and ITV2 has some useful programmes/films where HD would be of value.
Suspect these will be addressed when the contract comes up for renewal with ITV some time next year I believe?
