Re: Football Season 2011/12
I know it would murder to play in the summer but they said they could build air conditioned stadiums. If they can't, then the bidding should be reopened. If the World Cup was held in the winter then the European football season will have to be severely altered to accommodate, probably over several seasons

The thing is football is a global game and several nations play football during the summer. Why should those nations always have to change their leagues.

Nobody should be changing their league plans. The world cup is nothing more than a pocket-lining charade directed by what can only be described as a borderline secret society clique. High time that FIFA jogged on.

What about Russia, Norway, USA and Sweden that play during the summer. They have to change every time they qualify

Then it won't be a problem for them.

It is for every world cup that takes place during the summer. If they can move their leagues I don't see what the rest of Europe shouldn't have to move theirs once in awhile

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Well there lies the problem, the rest of Europe, South America and basically the cradle of the footballing civilisation will be disrupted. I don't think it's any secret what's gone on and quite frankly the people who have made these decisions really ought not to be making them... even the slightest notion of holding the World Cup in Qatar is utterly ridiculous. Every scandal Blatter has walked away from scot-free. That man has vertical shoulders and no shame.
Let's face it anyway, the World Cup is becoming something of an unwanted sideshow with the growing influence and importance of the biggest domestic league competitions. There seems to have been little appetite for it from some of the more established teams certainly for the past 2 competitions so what appetite anyone will have for a disrupted season in 2022 remains to be seen, I would be surprised if there's any.
