TiVo : How does the series link actually work and a couple of tivo newbie quesitons?

I have just got a 1TB tivo installed today and have been adding loads of series.

Does it only record that series on a specific channel?
Will it record future series if they appear on any channel or do I need to setup new links?

How do I remove the recording "hiccups"? for example I want to record only the new episodes of two and a half men but in my hicups list its got all of them listed saying I will not be recording it as its concidered old.

Where do I find recordings that clash?

Hiccups is just there for info it doesn't effect your series links or recordings. Its just to let you know why something won't record.

What about the series link? I know Tivo is clever but how clever is it with series.

Where do I find recordings that clash? In My Shows & Recordings>My planned recordings. Any clashes will have an asterix next to it assuming you've set TiVo up to clip a lower priority recording

Yes, but you can have a Series Link to the same show on any channel it appears on. About five of my Series Links are set to record on two or three channels so I can catch old episodes and newer ones as they air. For example, if I had Top Gear in the list I would have two Series Links: one on Dave to catch old episodes and another on BBC HD to catch new ones.

You can use WishLists to record any instance of a show (or, for example, anything featuring a certain actor) across channels. A great feature if you know a show will be airing in a few months but TiVo doesn't have it in the database yet.

Sounds like you need to set the Series Link to record New & Reruns so you don't miss anything. Also, if you want to prioritise a show above all others, press the HOME button on the remote, then press 1 to bring up the Manage My Series Links page. Then you can scroll down to the show in question, press right and then move it up and down the list.

Last week a show on BBC1 was bumped for a last minute topical program, Tivo recorded this thinking it was the show it was set to record.

The following week they put on the show that they missed the previous week. Tivo did not record this because it thought it had recorded this episode last week.

I do not know how Tivo was setup for this series, but would New & Reruns worked here?

Nah, it only records repeats it doesn't have the original of, which in your case it thought it did.
