Re: Multi room streaming
Has it been mentioned if there's a limit on the number of TiVo's the can be networked?
Ideally I'd like to have my 2 other boxes replaced with baby TiVo's at some point. This in theory would give 9 tuners and 2TB of storage!

Re: Multi room streaming
Less space would be needed if recordings weren't protected and could be moved to a NAS, from which the TiVo could also stream. I'd love to see that.

Re: Multi room streaming
Yeah, you, me and everybody. But this is the poopy end of the stick when it comes to Hollywood's attitude to piracy. Legitimate interoperability is blocked in the name of copyright protection. I'll eat my hat if they enable the web interface to download to non-Tivo devices.
If you want that kind of functionality, you can't (really) have it with pay channels. Frustrating, I know.

Re: Multi room streaming
Or you could try and hack the software, but knowing how tightly TiVo have it locked down and that it's been a decade or so since first release, plus VM might be able to tell... basically everything you posted is spot on. Which is a shame, but hey, I'd rather deal with that and pay a reasonable monthly sub fee than pay $499 and have a much tougher time of things as they do with the US TiVo boxes.

Re: Multi room streaming
OT: Ever used MythTV? It's glorious - standard file formats, web EPG with program streaming, plugins for local content, Youtube, etc etc. Fat database backend and thin clients wherever you want to view content.
Only problem is it runs on Linux and getting PayTV in to it is a Knightmare ( )
