No, if you read it correctly all it stated was the app would be available soon after the update launched. The update enables support for the iOS app and other network features.

My personal favourite iPlayer client is the one made for XBMC. Fast, HD-capable, generally stable as long as you choose the correct server.

Really ?

The feature will be made available as part of the first major software update for the system and is designed to build on the user experience of the award-winning service. That is false or it is poorly worded.

Update on Spotify?

Quote:
Spotify has announced that it is to become a fully-fledged music platform with the introduction of integrated apps.

Daniel Ek, co-founder and chief executive, confirmed at the company's New York press conference that third-party developers can now create HTML5 Spotify apps via JavaScript API.

"Today, we become a music platform, with the launch of really innovative, integrated apps, integrations that keep Spotify simple but layer in fun and social experiences," said Ek.

"We've turned our client into an interactive platform where third-party developers can easily build HTML5 Spotify Apps via JavaScript."
Not sure if this is to do with Tivo but could be very good?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Had my TIVO box installed this afternoon to replace my V+ box. Have to admit that I'm REALLY dissapointed with the TIVO Iplayer App. Used it this afternoon and all OK (including HD), went to use it tonight and it was unwatchable, just kept stuttering all the time. Watched it on my freeview box in the end.

Considering it's supposed to have a dedicated 10mg line, it's pretty poor and the V+ box wiped the floor with it.

Let's hope it gets sorted, as one of the things I mentioned on this forum before I had the TIVO installed was about the new Iplayer, with digital fanatic answering that there was no buffering.....

Other than that, no other real issues. As I have mentioned elsewhere, SD picture is worse than V+, but that issue isn't enough in it self to want me to move back to the V+ box. Although the series links are now starting to get on my nerves a bit

If it's stuttering then you need to report the fault. It certainly doesn't stutter on mine or any of the TiVo's in the office.

if you are not happy, then you can still go back to V+ if you want. Call VM

You can try using the regular search function to find a show and watch it via iPlayer... press HOME then 4 to bring up the search menu then type in your program, SMS-style with the numpad. Most times it'll find what you are looking for and it'll play the iPlayer stream via the TiVo interface which is a lot smoother/more reliable than the iPlayer app.

Quite a few reports about this on the Help & Support Forums as well:
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...ss/td-p/884935
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...te/td-p/885527

My attempt to watch League Cup highlights was interrupted as well, the stream just stopped and wouldn't start again.

Just spoke to National Desk and they said there is a known issue at the moment with intermittant freezing/stuttering on BBC iPlayer. It's a fault that's under investigation.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Digital Fanatic, I'll keep an eye on the iPlayer and see how it goes. It was playing the HD picture at the time and not SD (should have tried the SD to see if that was stuttering as well!)

To be honest, I'll most likely stick with the TIVO as I needed a PVR that was able to record more HD as the V+ was filling up to quickly. If i'd had paid for the 1TB though, I'd be alot more unhappier.

The other issue I'm having is with the series link and recording functions. I have no issues with adjusting my own padding settings, or in telling it when it should delete the my recordings (i.e. never! - I'll delete them myself thankyou). In fact it's not really a series link issue at all, it's how the box decide when to record. For example, if I record something at 8pm and then have 3 programs set to record at 9pm, one of these programs will either not be recorded (but be recorded at another time if this is possible which is fine), or on the the recorded programs will be clipped (if the program is not repeated). The V+ box (and my freeview recorder) if it has one program se to record at 8pm and two programs set for 9pm, the first recodring would stop at 9pm and the recordings would start at 9pm - how difficult is this? At the moment its almost a waste of the 3rd tuner!

Let's hope Virgin keep working away at this and make TIVo the piece of kit it should be.

Clipping programmes isn't ideal, nothing worse than missing your programme. TiVo is more intelligent than V+, so schedules the recording for another time to prevent this. If BBC & ITV kept to their scedules (like US channels do) we wouldn't need padding.

Think about if you only had 2 recordable tuners... you couldn't record the things you are recording now.
