New to TiVo.
Just got TiVo, And started recording/playing.
In my shows is it possible to see quickly which shows have been watched, or the length of the shows?
Does the TiVo record a alternate showing if you get recording clashe?

answer to question 1 - not that i have noticed - so i dont think so
answer to question 2 - yes it does if the recording is set up as a series link - not sure if it does it with OCR ones

Re: New to TiVo.
Just noticed that the record buffer works slightly different from the v+ system.
And I was able to record all of a program when I just turned onto the channel.
I am impressed so far.

Re: New to TiVo.
The retrospective recording is a great feature. Just remember your tuner has to have been buffering that channel to perform this. It is popular in my house as my son as an inbuilt ability to find something he is "desperate" to watch about 5 mins before it ends

Re: New to TiVo.
little tip for you, if you press info and go to the bottom icon which is 3 'r' and there are your 3 tunrners and you can put each turner on a channel so it will buffer

Ah, so that's the proper method. I've been wondering how sometimes I can change the channels I want buffering if one or more is not recording, but sometimes not.

no
the boxes on ebay are technically stolen as they remain the property of virgin media so selling them isn't allowed
secondly virgin viewing cards have to be paired with the box that is registered to your account therefore unless the box was supplied to you by virgin media there is no way to get it working

That's how TiVo works when recording shows back to back if you have padding selected. I got tired of shows getting missed because of this so I don't use padding at all now on Series Links.

Re: New to TiVo.
Just noticed my daughter has started to record wizards of waverly place on Disney channel. Some of the recordings have a egg timer next to them, and a caption that says something like"this recording will be deleted within 24 hours".
Is this something she has pressed, or has this been set by virgin, that recordings from certain channels only last a certain length of time?

Change the series link to "keep until I delete", it must currently be set to a max amount of progs (10)
