Re: TiVo Commander Android App

Not having much getting this working

I'm pretty sure all info is correct (IP address, MAK,service number).

I have noticed on Network Diagnostics (on Tivo box)the "Port Configuration test" shows as failed? could this be the problem and if so how do I rectify it please? It also wont get an IP using DHCP and if I use a static IP address it still wont connect!

The app itself goes through searching and then says "No results found"

Thanks in advance
Just remembered I used the network cable for the PS3 so it (Tivo) wasn't plugged in to the network!!!!!

The Premiere is one of the US TiVo boxes which is what the app is actually designed for. You need to go into custom settings and manually enter the IP address and MAK of your TiVo.

Does it work with WPA though? I know that there are very few WDS systems that support WPA (dynamic keys can't work, static can but rarely do). I'd be very wary of implementing a bridge using just WEP because it can be cracked in a matter of minutes using a freely available app which then renders even MAC filtering irrelvant. I switched a long time ago from WEP WDS to homeplug and never regretted it. Ping times are much, much better and throughput is much better too.

Of course, DD-WRT bridging supports whatever your main router supports regardless of whether that main router is running DD-WRT or not. I used to use it for extending WPA2-AES (maximum strength encryption for consumer units, I believe) around the house before everything was hardwired.

Have a read!

Re: TiVo Commander Android App

Got this working, and it works well for a free app. Is there any where of getting it to store manual settings for more than one TIVO though?

Re: TiVo Commander Android App

Just to check, have you connected the TiVo to your wireless router with an ethernet cable?

Re: TiVo Commander Android App

Hi, i've been reading through this thread as I was having issues getting TiVo commander to work..but eventually, it's now working, so a big thanks to everyone who's posted

Now, here's a question, and I apologise in advance if it seems like a stupid one coming from a blatant TiVo n00b...

But what exactly is the point of TiVo commander? I mean, I can only use it in the house when connected to my home network by wifi. I thought it meant I could set things to record while out of the house? The remote part seems pretty cool, but if I can only use it in the house, then i'll just use the normal remote Am I missing something?

This is the app you need to set remote recordings. Works very well.
