VM Customers Old v New
Do new VM customers receive a better deal than existing customers ?
If so why ?
In any event kind regards to all.

A new customer is worth more to Virgin so can get some very good deals but many existing customers get special deals and offers throughout the year as well so it works both ways whether old or new.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
tbh the retention deals at the moment for existing customers seem to be better than what new customers are offered. Although new customers don't have to pay installation fees for things like TiVo.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
To make customers with $ky think its worth the hassle of moving provider to get a better deal

Re: VM Customers Old v New
If you got the spunk and energy to talk to retentions, you will get something, but it never lasts forever..
best bet, do it 12 months at a time...
shop around, take notes, bring it up, and you will get some sort of "deal"..
but yet, new customers seem to get better deals...
the days of having much choice though, is a laughing matter.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
There were crazy deals bandied around at some points.
If you are an old customer who has never made a fuss, your deal is probably awful.
If you have a continuing (dis)loyalty deal, you are generally doing a little better than current bundle deals.

Its better to be a new customer just like it is with anything. I'm sure you could get your ______ insurance cheaper than your paying now if you switched but then when the renewal comes in somewhere else will be better.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
This is an interesting one.
You see people with absolutely ridiculous discounts, saving a ton of money, and people who work for VM will say that these are all going to be ended or it was a one off.
Then you see people again with absolutely ridiculous discounts because they got a hold of the right person on the phone. Their service runs fine, they're perfectly happy customers who weren't going to cancel anyway but they got a hold of someone who wanted the commission from 'retaining' them.
In short it seems to be a total lottery. whenever people say that VM are tightening the deals that people can blag it seems to just be a question of time before that goes out of the window and the commission horny retentions agents will offer to supply a harem of beautiful women and all services for free for the rest of your natural life in return for not cancelling even though you quite obviously had no intention of doing so in the first place and were on your 10th phone call to them fishing for a deal.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
I had an open-ended Tripple XL discount (or something like that), as long as I did not downgrade my package. I'd had it for almost 3 years, I think, until last December when I did change my package to a V+ box and 50 MB broadband. I get the same level of discount but now it's called a loyalty discount (or something like that). This discount should also be open-ended - guess I will find out soon if it is. It does get eroded by price increases though, as the discount itself does not change.
iTekweni, I was offered the Tripple XL discount but when I had called up about upgrading I stressed that I would only upgrade if I could keep the discount and VM were very obliging. I do not know what package you have but if you wanted to upgrade you could always say that you are looking at Sky's package. I had got a new HD TV but only had the old TV box so I'd said I was looking for HD content and was comparing the two. I did not have to haggle, they just offered me the discount and I thought it was fair so I accepted. It's only a phone call so you have nothing to lose.

Re: VM Customers Old v New
Just out of idle interest I built my present bundle on VMs site, and it costs me less for the same services as an existing customer on a loyalty discount than it would a new customer. Though the comparison wasn't exact as I couldn't pick a V+ box on VMs bundle builder and had to choose the 500mb Tivo as the closest match.
In conclusion. Well done VM.
