If they cosy up too much some people could accuse them of distorting the market to suit their own ends.

Trouble is denphon that would have to be proved,i always remember a piece in the Guardian in which ESPN said in some areas they would compete in others they would not, ,and sky do ESPNS marketing in the uk so it does not take a lot of working out really.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...cup-sky-sports
Read the above link about theree quarters of the way down tells you how close the relationship is denphone.
Wolff says ESPN is happy for Sky to be the senior partner in the UK. "There will be markets where we bid against each other; there are other territories where we will not. You could have a very good second position in a market if that's the best business model you can build at that time." He adds: "We have a complex, multifaceted relationship with Sky [but] complex relationships aren't new to us. We just have to manage that."

Hmm! I must be gettin' old. I'm pretty sure when I had a similar discussion on here a couple of years ago, the consensus was that the V+ Box did not have HD in the name, even though it had HD in the functionality.
Now DF has introduced the V-HD Box! What's that?
It's the whole DVD+R/-R/+RW/-RW, HD DVD, Blu-ray fiasco all over again!!!
Just to recap ...
- I'm not a new customer
- I'm a long-standing XL customer
- I don't have a faulty V+ Box that needs to be replaced
- I may have a faulty V Box that needs to be replaced
- I don't feel I should have to pay for a TiVo Box just to get PVR functionality

Just imagine though Den if they start trying to outbid each other , our subs would rocket and I'm pretty sure at the next contract renewal VM would find it hard to keep ESPN part of the XL package.

Presumably though muppetman if that were to happen sky might have to lower their price whilst ESPN increased theirs when losing rights, never going to happen though.

l am not sure subs would rise in a very tricky economic climate where they are fighting to keep every customer.

Yep that's pretty much how I see it panning out , its still a great result for VM subscribers as they would get 46 games included with XL instead of this years 23.

Unfortunately so.
Good news for boxing fans though. It's a rare outing for boxing on the BBC next weekend when they broadcast the British Championships next Saturday afternoon from 2:30pm.
Many of the fighters on show are competing for places in the GB squad for London 2012. It's a good chance to see the boxing stars of tomorrow, today!
Because it's not tucked away on the red button, we'll be able to enjoy this on BBC One HD.

Yes no argument from me there mate VM subs do get a good deal on the XL package with ESPN, Not sure when the current deal ends though? hopefully a new one would be put in place.46 games would be pretty good value.
