If you've not troubled yourself to establish any pattern in this website's news coverage, how have you arrived at the conclusion that this story being missing is 'curious'?
It might surprise you to learn that a forum with more than about half a dozen regular posters requires rather more admin than you are perhaps used to. It may further surprise you that not everybody spends their days obsessing over their speed, pings, jitters or any of the other statistics that are irrelevant to most of the people, most of the time.

It seems that VM hoped that many would be sufficiently obsessed to take the 50Mbps product. At least that's my take on why they ran the ads which were upheld to be misleading by the ASA and banned their future use.

On the contrary - that cock up is almost certainly the result of a poorly-qualified hack's attempt to simplify things for the uninformed public. If it were aimed at people with specialist knowledge I suspect the specialist information would have been there.

Indeed as the linked article says:

What is a surprising admission is that the advert was not written by Virgin Media but by the magazines own editorial team, thus avoided the usual Virgin Media review procedures.

Don't think that will happen again lol

There you go ... Wannabe journalists who aren't good enough to get a job on a proper magazine.

Re: ASA points out to Virgin Media that latency is not download speed
Perhaps the same clueless bunch did the writeup on VM's website where they still claim it's perfect for gaming?

Re: ASA points out to Virgin Media that latency is not download speed
Just as well I guess although "perfect" implies both must be good. I think websites are under or will soon be coming under ASA scrutiny.

Re: ASA points out to Virgin Media that latency is not download speed
more accurately VM said the magazine wrote the advert.
That is completely bizzare, how believable is it that a company wanting to advertise would tell the paper/magazine what to put in the advert and then not verify the advert before publish?
I can simplify it, VM got caught misselling their broadband, quite simple. They then tried to tell the ASA that the ofcom report proved their service was fine but the ofcom report actually said the opposite.
What I find worrying is that 2 VM employees in this thread disregarded bad latency performance as unimportant, as if the gaming market is irrelevant. A total thumbs down to gaming customers. Is this an attitude that runs through the company?
---------- Post added at 11:46 ---------- Previous post was at 11:42 ----------
to kwikbreaks unfortenatly the ASA cant rule on companies own websites, a silly rule.
