Netgear WNR854T problem

Well first off let me start by saying this could possibly not be a problem with the router,

Whenever my internet connection goes down/loses sync and comes back up my router doesn't detect or seem to know that the internet has come back up, to get my net to start working again i have to unplug the ethernet cable in my modem and plug it back in, after doing that it works immediatly.

Anyone got any ideas for what the problem could be and how having to do this everytime it goes down even if its for a second can be avoided.

Netgear WNR854T + Virgin 50mb.

Thanks.

Re: Netgear WNR854T problem

I always found with my Linksys router and VM modem, when I was on a 20 meg service, that if the internet had died then I had to reboot everything to get connections back.

Modems seem to be quite dumb in terms of connectivity, often requiring the device they are attached to to be reset before they will see them again.
