IE 10 'Metro' to ditch Plugins

Windows 8 will still support Flash but the interface that Microsoft wants to live on tablets and other touch screen devices will require a rather nasty switch to the desktop version of the browser should you wish to use Flash.

Oh, how I would love this to be the start of the end for flash,
silverlight/html5 is the way forward.
easier programming wise too.

Silverlight is still a plugin.. IE10 Metro will apparently not support any plugins.
It's also worth noting that Microsoft seem to be actively encouraging their developers to use HTML5 rather than Silverlight, so I suspect that after V5, Silverlight may not have much of a future.

Does anyone actually like Flash? If I didn't need it for iPlayer I wouldn't install it on my PCs and put up with it's constant, in-your-face demands for updates.
Is there anyway to make it automate the constant security updates, like I can with Windows Updates?

Yeah I've had my first go at both the IE10 implementations today, and to be honest I see no point to the metro one, or the "standard" one for that matter. While I used them for longer than my customary "getfirefox.com", exit, it still makes no difference to me if IE supports flash or not. Won't stop me using it if/when I want to. There are plenty of legacy flash apps that won't ever be ported to HTML5.
