Just recording repeats
Hi.
If i just want to series link the repeats of shows, how do i do this?
Iv tried selecting 'new & reruns' and 'everything'. But it always selects the original showing too, causing clashes.
Like the V+ i thought selecting the repeat in the guide would choose just this, but it dosent. Any ideas what im doing wrong?
Thanks.

Set the programme lower in the priorities list and let it clash, TiVo will then record the repeats.

The other way would be to make one-off recordings of the programme you want?

Am I reading this correct , if you want to record a show first aired on Monday night at 7pm then repeated each week at Tuesday at 7pm you can just series link the Tuesday airing

Thats correct. But when i series link the repeat, it picks up the first airing too/instead.

TiVo will see a clash and record the repeat anyway, so long as the programme it clashes with has a higher priority.

But surely if you can series link a show even on its repeat you can stop clashes from ever arising.

Series links work differently on TiVo, it's a clash, but TiVo handles it and records the repeats. If the programme its clashing with finishes it's run then tiVo will record the first showing. It's a totally different way of doing things with TiVo compared with V+HD and Sky+HD.

Re: Just recording repeats
But what if a show is repeated throughout the week, and you want to series link episodes on a certain day when there are no clashes?
Someone on the Help and Support Forums has that issue with Ice Road Truckers (I think), with Season 5 being on a certain day of the week and older series being on other days. None of those episodes are marked as New, so the recording options (New only; New and Reruns; Everything) either give you nothing or give you everything (in which case you have to spend time deleting the repeats which you didn't want recorded).
How do you tell TiVo to 'record this series on this day every week?', as per the series-link option on V+ HD, when there are no clashes in order to force TiVo to record a repeat (hope that makes sense).

Re: Just recording repeats
Yes seems strange , an example Strike Back Project Dawn is on tonight at 9pm on Sky One HD , if I had other recordings set tonight and a clash would occur with Sky I could just series link it when repeated on Wednesday at 11pm, seems easier to me but what do I know.

Re: Just recording repeats
Yes, it's a clash, but if the repeats were not on there then you couldn't record them anyway?
The way TiVo works is you tell it what programme you like and it will record the first airing if it can, if it clashes then TiVo will get the repeat.
TiVo is doing the hard bit, there is no need for the user to start searching for the repeats to stop clashes like would happed on V+HD or Sky+.

Re: Just recording repeats
Is it because the show you are recording has no series and episode number info?
I set King of Queens to record on CC HD in the early hours of the morning as they were showing it from the beginning. It recorded all the episodes for that series on wards and ignored series 8 which was shown during the day, it did record S8 as suggestions though.

Re: Just recording repeats
Just to clarify: Season 5 of Ice Road Truckers starts next Thursday, with repeats on Friday. But repeats of Season 1 are broadcasted on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
There. Is. No. Clash. With other recordings. So TiVo's 'find alternative broadcast of this episode' doesn't apply as a solution.
So, how do I record the Season 5 episodes only? (They're not marked as New).
