Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
What a farse. Just finally got to the checkout screen and the locations are all sold out apart from one, Norwich! lol
How are they all sold out (unavailable I should say) if nobody has been able to get on there?

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
I doubt very much it was that no-one could get on it, there probably were some successful orders before it went down and then since it's come back up

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
Chances are as in previous films the cinema will be half empty, Free tickets = cant be arsed or got tickets cos they were free and no one wants to go .....
About time virgin blocked those that get tickets and have no intetntion of turning up repeatedly...
There is a process for returning unwanted tickets but apparently its rarely ever used. !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
Show Film First have posted on their facebook page that they were hit by a DoS attack this morning and that is why the site went down.
Co-incidently around the same time the VM tickets were meant to go live. Hmmmmm.

They should really setup a second preview showing for the problems and seemingly instant unavailability of tickets.
Strange that the Virgin Media 'confirmation' page is not Https, it would be nice to enter my email and post code securely.

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
I managed to get as far as entering my details, then was redirected to the FilmFirst site, but by then it had crashed. When things were fixed later I couldnt re-enter my details as the Virgin site thought I had aready got tickets, the link that wouldnt work earlier just told me to register with Virgin!
What a total joke!

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
I think tickets may not have existed as the site went down almost straight away. As for the excuse of denial of service this is very poor in this day and age most basic home user broadband router firewalls can deal with this problem and cost less than £100. So Show Film First would have much better equipment that would ignore this traffic and beside the error message that came back was not a generic browser message but a SQL web command error so points to website or database not coping. I also would how many tickets have been allocated and not sent due to the problem. Because I had got through to final screen and put in who was attending and then it failed at point only not being able to get back on till all tickets had gone. I don't know if I have tickets or not as they have not been emailed so I assume not, which peeves me to an extent. SO I think Virgin media should put its hands and say sorry we got it badly wrong and offer an additional showings because I don't believe anyone got any tickets as this happen to me at 10.02 and by the time they sorted the problem there were no tickets left. mmm!!!

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
Looks like they've changed the way customers apply for tickets. The way its written I think it going to be more like a random draw for those that register. I suppose it will make it a fairer system.

Re: Virgin Media - free cinema tickets for customers
Yup. It's based on the feedback Virgin have got from previous films offers, as if you aren't at a PC at 10am when the application goes live you have little chance at being successful.

How do I know if I've won tickets?

Quote:
We'll email you up to 48 hours after ticket registration window closes. If you've won tickets, you'll be emailed your e-ticket for the screening, which you'll need to bring with you on the night.
We'll also send you an email if you missed out.
|
Well here we are 2 days after Registration closed and still it seems no one has received the emails.....
Still remains to see if this new random draw will increase the number of people who actually turn up on the night ....
The last four films I have been to have all had at least 33% empty seats and indeed the last one (Super 8) was probably nearer 80% empty !
