Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
It's four weeks ago today that I started my diet, the weight is coming off better than I imagined, I am very pleased with myself. Expect the weight loss will start slowing down now though, but still got 10 weeks to make a difference.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
Good luck with that.
You all have inspired me, so I joined my work gym and have been three times this week.
Ache, but feel good - my secondary aim is to lose around 20 pounds in 9 months for my daughter's wedding, but my main aim is just to get fitter.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
This is strange, well one part. I'm trying to bulk up a little. Most of the foods I eat digest well although I find it hard to put on weight, no major complaints I just have to work a bit harder. Strange part is milk, if I drink blue/green top I notice my face putting on a little weight but nothing happens when I drink gold top. I stopped drinking blue/green top and brought a bottle of gold top last week and nothing. I even drank glasses of it. Are they doing something they shouldn't to blue/green top ?

Cheers. I'll get round but I've dropped almost 5 minutes from my 10K time from last year so no way I'll get near last years time of 1:38:25. Probably between 1:45 and 1:50 and I'll be very happy indeed.

I could be near your time, this years not last years. I'm hoping for under 1:50 but would be happy with anything under 2 hours. I took your advice and increased my long run slightly each week and did the full distance 2 weeks ago. I was just under 1:50 but it was perfect conditions and I choose a very flattish route.

The 1/2 route isn't too bad. St. Vincent street is right at the start so you are still bunched up and going relatively slowly, the run up onto the Kingston bridge is steep and after that there are really only a couple of small-ish hills in Bellahouston and Pollok park to worry about.
If you can get 1:50 in a training run I'd reckon you'll be round tomorrow in 1:45 or so.

I've been running up that bit of St Vincent Street as far as West Campbell St. once a week as part of my training, jogging into work. I've already ran 9 miles by the time I get to George Square so I don't think my legs will be quite as heavy tomorrow at that location.
I doubt if I'll do 1:45, the training run was flat, Uddingston to Parkhead and back - hardly a slope never mind a hill. Whatever time I do it'll be my best official time ever.

Protein and complex carbohydrates should hit the spot. I eat oats and protein powder, which works nicely.

My body is really lean, again no major complaints last thing I want is for that to backfire but I want to try gain a bit of weight. I'm 21, I like to stay away from fatty stuff and eat proper foods although I'll admit it doesn't always happen. Its as if proper foods just goes in and out without helping healing anything.

I've got protein powder. I did usually mix it with blue or green top but because my face puffs up as a result of drinking blue/green I switched to gold which just goes against logics but it somehow didn't affect me like blue/green did

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
Guess who was a big drama queen and collapsed at the end of his first half marathon with severe dehydration.
An hour in the medical tent getting 3 bags of saline drip eventually sorted me out but it's certainly an experience I'll never forget. I've never experienced such pain in my life as when the leg cramps kicked in. The medical staff were fantastic though.
Pleased with my time of 1:47:24 but missed out on the the experience of the great atmosphere down the finishing straight. I have no recollection of the last 600 yards so I'll have to do it again next year.
I'm not sure my better half will agree since she spent over an hour with my two daughters at our prearranged meeting place wondering what was happening.

LOL. Sounds like fun. I bonked on a cycle ride last week. Didn't eat properly, and did a 1000 foot climb onto the moors in Yorkshire straight out of the parking lot. I managed to get to the top, but had blurry vision, had to sit down and nearly threw up. Wife managed to force a muesli bar down my throat which helped. Fifteen minutes later I was back on the bike to continue the 30 miles up and down the moors. Not something I want to experience again though...
On the upside: managed to beat my PB on our 20 mile training ride.Upped the average speed from 14.4 to 14.8 MPH. Mostly due to the lack of wind, but nice anyway

You tried and so what if you made a mistake and didn't drink as much as you were supposed to. You mad and effort and made a mistake and the next time you will be more sensible and learn from your mistake. We all learn from mistakes so dont be hard on yourself. Well done for the what you did achieve
