TiVo Any point in getting 2 Tivos?

Hi All!

First post so be gentle!

I'm a Sky+HD subscriber with 2 x HD boxes (no HD Subscription) Multiroom, O2 broadband (8mb and get 7mb constatly) and BT Line.

I'm planniing on a wholesale move to Virgin (was an NTL BB customer years ago and loved it) and I am looking at their Sky Switcher deal. The deal is as follows:

TV XL
BB XL
1 x 500mb Tivo (Â£49.95)
Free V HD
no Â£6.50 ever for second box
This will currently work out about the same as my Sky package but with a Tivo & 30MB BB

I can also cahnge the deal:
TV XL
BB XL
1 x 1TB Tivo (Â£99.80)
1 x 500mb Tivo (Â£49.95)
Lose the free V HD box
Plus Â£6.50 for second box

Is there any point going for 2 x Tivos?

Does VM act like my existing multiroom? i.e will I get 6 tuners available to me?

What will the cabling be like? I want my BB router in my office, Tivo in living room and extra box (whichever version) in my bedroom - will they install 3 external/internal cables?

If I went for a V HD box can I later swap a Tivo in and use the same cable? In this case I imagine I lose the free Â£6.50 second box offer when it becomes a non V HD box?

Has anyone ever managed to get Quidco with the switch from Sky deal? If so that makes the 2 Tivo box look better (depending on if they act like 2 tivos with 6 tuners between them)

Anything else I should be considering/worried about (other than Tivo glitches)?

Yes, you will have six tuners available to you and in the future you will be able to watch what is recorded on either box at either box. Record something on box A, watch it on box B.

Will the multiroom in future be: Anything recorded on Tivo then be viewable on V HD box?

Also I'm still confused about the cable for the V HD box. Can I simply plug a Tivo in later to enjoy full funcionality of the Tivo or does it need an 'upgraded' cable?

You could go for the V-HD box, but the 2nd TiVo will have more possibilities future wise...

All TiVo's can only be manned installs,The reason for this is for signal level adjustments in the DP(cab in street), but they use the exact same cables.

I have 2 tivos; I previously had 2 V+ boxes. they just unplugged the cable from the V+ box and put it into the Tivo box.

Both tivo boxes have 3 independant tuners, but obviously, currently, what you record on each tivo has to be watched on that Tivo.

I'm hoping that when the promised tivos talking to each other is implemented, they do it properly, which would give you 6 independant tuners that can be watched on either box. Hoping is the keyword as no details have been made public.

You probably know this, but with 2 tivos, you only pay one tivo 3 pound charge, as it is a charge per ccount, not per box.

Is the V HD box any good? (I know it has no VR functions) Is it fast with a good GUI? May suit my needs as it's only a bedroom, but would be fantastic if the future multiroom would deliver Tivo content - but that is probably a wish too far?

There is talk that the V HD box may, at some time in the future, get TiVo software and be able to view programs recorded on a real TiVo but I would not hold your breath.

Two TiVos is the way to go. Function to view programs from either is rumoured to be available very soon.

Definitely Tivo is the way to go as they have only scratched the surface with the Tivo box at the current time.
