They might but i think thats not likely at the moment, and if they did i do not think they would use a channel that far down the sport epg for formula 1.
The majority of races could wll be on sky sports HD/1/2 as the football season finishes early in may and starts again mid august, and there are some races before and after the cricket season so we could only be talking a few races when both England Test cricket and football are on together.

So on this assumption I suppose if Sky show F1 in 3D they will also have to offer Sky 3D to VM and BT

Sky will NOT show F1 in 3D as FOM don't broadcast in 3D. . . . . yet.

Aye.
I've been saying that all along. Sky wouldn't stick it elsewhere because they want people to sub to sky sports for it. They won't care if they're on net or off net, they'll still make money, so having it on 3 or 4 would rule out anyone subbing to Sky Sports on tutv or bt vision for the f1.

Agree Mobes, something i stated in the "coming soon" thread.
How will they shuffle things around though that is the question. At the moment things like Prem Footy, Cricket etc.. we only need 2 plus the F1 coverage to be on the same Sunday, what will go where then?... Like I said I reckon we may have Sky Sports HD3 come next March, not Sky Sports HD4 though. If Sky can keep one they will.

My points as well not forgetting of course that BT vison or TUTV have no access to sky sports in HD whatsoever so F1 cannot be in HD on all platforms either. despite agreements Bernie Eccleston may have signed regarding HD coverage.

I haven't seen anywhere in all the things I've read that this has to be in hi def for every provider , most people with Sky Sports on VM will see nearly every race in HD anyway as half will be on the BBC and I would expect at least three quarters to be available on HD1 or HD2 with Sky Sports.

Yes pretty much agree with that muppetman, i think the majority that are on sky will be on HD1/2 with a possibilty only a few may be on HD3.
My point about the HD though was does it say it has to be in HD for vm subs i doubt it,therefore those that say vm would have to be given HD3 should F1 be on there may well be wrong.just as BT and TUTV will have no HD coverage.

Re: F1 on Sky Sports
But one of the reasons F1 went to the BBC from ITV was because of the advert breaks during the race
I recon part of the deal with Sky is that the actual Race is advert free

hi Scruds, I appreciate you are eager for more information like most F1 fans however at present we do not have all the details yet, I'd recommend keeping an eye on the Sky Sports website at www.skysports/com/f1
F1 will be shown on Sky Sports and in HD however we do not as yet know which Sky Sports channels will be used as scheduling still has to be worked out

It will remain ad free for the race , there are plenty of other ways of advertising ie online , on demand and sponsoring the show like ford with football.

Re: F1 on Sky Sports
Watch any race from across the pond, and you will see what the "advert free" SKY programmes will end up looking like. It will be constant on-screen graphics and commentators starting every conversation with "F1 on Sky brought to you by........".
