re: England Riots August 2011 (Was London Riots)
It seems like the lack of police action during the initial Tottenham looting has encouraged people to try it on in other areas, including Birmingham...

Exactly. they've seen that nobody is really doing anything and they see it as free for all. they are getting too confident after 3 days. and until we do something it's not going to stop.

Do you really want our troops to be used like they were in NI? Especially as they have already got enough fighting to do in Afghanistan without being deployed here.
|
Well clearly the 30,000 Police officers in London are not managing Maggy, so what do we do next?

Maggy WHERE have i said SHOOT the civilians, I have said use baton guns, Do you know the difference between the SA80 and a riot gun ?. Which do you think the troops would be using ???
Maggy you have never been in a riot as one of those trying to stop it Truncheons and shields are not very good against bricks and fire bombs, I know how the police feel at the moment i have been there and done it.
Bit of a knee jerk reply me thinks.

I was then one who said use live rounds.
The Libyan and syrian people are protesting against their regime. these *******s are just stealing and looting and, again, they`ll get away with it.

Perhaps the would-be vigilantes are too busy looting?

I would never agree with live rounds on civilians but the use of plastic bullets and bean bags which are non lethal is an option.
all the hand wringers can bleat all they want but i bet they would not be so soft if it was there house or shop being looted.

i notice that the police champion that is Flyboy hasn't been around to condemn the police action as over the top and unwarranted

They're throwing bricks, setting buildings on fire and generally making life threatening actions to the rest of the public as well as the police..
Send in the army, give them rubber bullets and let them start firing, if that doesn't work then NATO standard 5.56 will work.
