First ad campaign for existing customers

Quote:
Virgin Media today unveiled its new print campaign, aimed squarely at existing customers. Focusing on the benefits of being a Virgin Media customer, the new ad campaign highlights some of the great value extras available at no extra cost.

From free servicing and repairs to broadband speeds that deliver on advertising promises and ESPN at no extra monthly cost for top tier TV customers, Virgin Media’s campaign breaks today with print ads running in national newspapers including The Times, The Independent, Metro and the Daily Mirror.

e-Metro displays one of the adverts on page 6

Very clean, simple and straight to the point in my opinion.

Re: First ad campaign for existing customers

This makes a lot of sense. It is always easier to retain existing customers than recruit new ones. If Virgin Media want to keep growing then they need to hold on to their customer base. That means ensuring we don't think rival platforms are better value.

Indeed - I wonder if VM are getting a little concerned at the fall in their customer numbers, Q1 was well down on last years figures as is Q2.

Instead of investing money advertising things your customers ought to know already concentrate on investing in your product, that is what will retain your customers and attract new ones.

Re: First ad campaign for existing customers

The ad made me wonder "If the repair team won't take my money, will VM do it by raiding my bank account?".

Now all I have to do is get someone on the faults number who understands enough English so that I can GET a repair team sent out.

Re: First ad campaign for existing customers

This is a really good move by Virginmedia as sometimes existing customers can often feel forgotten about when they see the half deals on offer to new customers.

This lets them know they are offers for them, and a few features they may of forgotten about. Well done VM.

To be honest rivals are not better value for money, the only point in switching now is based on 'quality' and that includes customer services however even this is narrowing as they are all becoming the same.

For example by going to TalkTalk for Broadband and Unlimited landline calls including line rental is about £2 per month cheaper than Virgin Media, however, you lose the reliability of Virgin Broadband's speeds also Calling features such as Anonymous Caller Rejection is more expensive than Virgin Media. And finally if you have Virgin TV or Sky TV, it would work out more expensive by taking services from two seperate companies since Virgin TV alone goes up about £5 to £6 per month more without a Virgin phone line.

Comparison:

BT Total Broadband Option 1 with Anytime calls comes to about £28 per month, you get Unlimited Calls to landlines and up to 20MB broadband, however most people will find they get about 7MB or 8MB. It is not unlimited and you get a usage of 10GB.

With Virgin Media you can get the same with unlimited broadband with a more gauranteed speed of 10MB, most customers will find they get about 9MB. The cost of this is about £29 and whatsmore you get inclusive calls to Virgin Mobiles.

Although BT offer 0845 and 0870 calls as inclusive calls, many businesses are migrating to 0843 and 0844 as well as 0871 numbers which are not inclusive and it is possible to ask Virgin Media to add this little extra if it is worth keeping you as a customer at no extra cost, also ask about free caller display!

So you see, there isn't much price difference, Virgin Media have become expensive, but all other providers have too so don't fall for the 'Join now and get 4 months free' offers because when the honeymoon period is over, you will soon see the same or similar bills coming in and you will be left feeling disappointed at the fact that you are paying more for something that you are getting less of!

Then there is the cost and time of switching, you have to think to yourself, is it really worth changing providers?

Don't listen to the rubbish uswitch and comparison sites give out, they are there to make money by you switching and will doing anything to get you to switch!

Firstly your comparison is wrong.
BT broadband with unlimited calls is £26 a month with 4 months free.
Virgin 10mb with Unlimited calls is only £28 for the first 6 months then it goes up to £35.40

Bit of a difference.

They're not really comparable as on that deal BT has a 10GB usage cap.

I have chopped my cable with a spade and not been charged and again when we removed the front wall, both required repulls of over 400 mtrs and no charge for both faults.

I have had 3 of the old analogue boxes replaced due to faults and my V+ has been replaced twice again with no charge and all done for free for the last 17 years.

Every technician visit has been within a couple of days and we do not get preferential treatment being staff we join the queue.

I did try SKY while still a Cable customer and had 3 replacement boxes in 4 moths and each engineer visit was at least a week away, we got out of the contract due to them not being able to provide a service.

After 12 months with SKY you either pay around £10 per month to get a tech for free and replacement equipment or try spitting your dummy out and demand a replacement which takes time.

I prefer the easy route were I can pick up a phone and all faults are sorted for free.

Plus I get this below and do not want the 1.5Mb promised by all the ADSL providers in my area imagine getting less than a 20th of the speed below.
