Finding non-rental films on TiVo
Hey all
Is there a way to get a list of films that are on (say in the next week or so) that aren't rental?
I've been to "Browse all TV" under the search bit and it comes up with Movies and then you can select categories such as Comedy etc.
It brings up a list of films but they are rental films...
So is there a way to bring up a list of non-rental films?
Thanks,
Marky

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
I notice you cant browse for 'all films' and you have to choose a specific category e.g. 'western films'
I set up a wishlist called "All Films" works a treat although only list films over next 3 days

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
Sadly MarkyUK I think a nice list of upcoming films died when everyone got so many channels!
However TiVo does far, far more than my V+ or a Sky+ can dream of doing. Whilst browse all tv doesn't just throw up rental movies, you do have to narrow the search by selecting a catagory (e.g. comedy or drama) then TiVo finds all the films available. Some will only be available On demand at a cost but when they are on your subscribed channels TiVo offers up "Record this movie / View other showings". Yet finding an available film can take some time and until you click on it you have no idea what time or date it's on.
This is where Jethro's wishlist excels.
To set up =
HOME - 3 - Create a Wishlist Search - scroll to Category then scroll to Films when you select Films, TiVo will ask you to Pick Subcategory if you want all films "Don't specify a subcategory" the choice is yours! Leave "Keyword, Title Keyword, Actor & Director" blank. Chose a wishlist name and then select "Done creating this Wishlist Search"
Once complete you can view "Upcoming programs" watch them now or record them (and hopefully in the future "change at start"), sadly as Jethro said TiVo may only populate a few days of films so you won't be able to see much of the future but there will be hundreds and scrolling in the SDUI is like lightning compared to the HDUI.

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
I made sever wish lists for movies, Comedy, Romance, Sci fi and Action. So can browse these lists once every few weeks and add any ones I want to see. Even if you don't like romance movies it is still worth adding as a lot of comedies weren't appearing in the comedy section like Groundhog day.
This does make browsing for films so nice an easy, when I had a V+ it was never this easy to find films, now I have a whole bunch that I record during the week.

Brilliant, its just a shame that the SD screen doesn't show the full channel name so its not totally clear which is the HD channel

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
Thanks for the advice guys
The wishlist works well enough to see the latest films on for the next few days
Hopefully they'll improve it in the future :p Sounds like there is plenty of TiVo features to come

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
Can someone please inform me that if one selects a suggested item from the "Discovery Bar" on Tivo, to watch, does this involve a charge, as with "Filmflex", and is the user advised of the charge before accepting. No mention of this is printed in the guide book. Many thanks.

Some are PPV and some are in your subscription or to be broadcast. You will be warned of a charge if it applies, yes.

Re: Finding non-rental films on TiVo
Digital Fanatic. Thankyou for the info. If one is advised of any charge that is fine, and as I am on XL I suppose many titles will be ok in the sub. Most grateful to you. best wishes.
