He was with Hibs for the 2nd half of last season. He didn't set the heather on fire.
He seems to look the part but drifts out of games too easily. Probably why his contract wasn't extended.

A £3million deal has been agreed i've heard, he will sign on Monday. Also, more worryingly, theres talk about Barton going in the opposite direction...

Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan has agreed a five-year contract with Newcastle and will complete his move to Tyneside next week.

Remember Man Utd hardly played him and l think the time to judge him is when he plays consistently in the first team.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
not seen anything official on Obertan yet. Seemed to be one of those with a bit of skill who got too cocky when he got to OT. Instead of building on that skill he couldn't be bothered to put the effort in and so never made the grade.

You must personally know the players personality then as SAF still rates him highly.

Too cocky?
14 appearances most of them from the subs bench is a chance to prove yourself? He will get more of a chance at Newcastle.
There was a point when Andy Carroll couldnt hit the net to save his life for the first team. Almost sold him on for a few million.. Lucky we didn't eh.
Feel Nile Ranger is going through a similar period.. Knowing our luck we will sell this guy on and sit back as he starts smacking them in.

Man Utd have a very strong squad so they cannot keep everybody and remember English clubs have to have more English players in their squad because of the new rules coming in.
