Belkin N150
Hi guys, my uncle has recently purchased a belkin N150 wireless router. He has connected it to his vm modem but can't connect via wireless. It connects fine using an ethernet cable from the new router to laptop but is unable to do so wirelessly? Any advice? I'm not at his house at the moment so can't supply any more info.
regards, mark
p.s. it is a cable router.

Yes it can see several including the one he wants to connect to. Alas it does not connect when he tries.

Re: Belkin N150
If security was enabled and he tries to connect would it not prompt him for a password? when he tries to connect it just says cannot connect?? I'll have to go to his house and post from there via the cable of course. thanks docdutch.

Re: Belkin N150
Theres a range of N150's that have major security issues as well as the connection issues. I suspect your uncle doesn't intend to set a password judging by your post? I highly advise you to talk him into setting it up. Also check for firmware updates. A few major issues were found via testers/customers which were forwarded to Belkin tech, a new firmware may of been released for whatever model you have.
Go to 192.168.2.1 and on the homepage it should tell you the model number.
Go to Belkin-uk > support > firmware updates > and input your router details (3 steps)
save and download the firmware then update it via 192.168.2.1 > left hand side > firmware updates >browser > update.
Theres an auto update feature within the firmware updates page on Belkins web interface and also on admin I think, it sucks, do it the manual way (as stated above).
I use to own a Belkins router, a few in fact but lost my nerve with them. Go through all the settings and set it up properly and secure. If your laptop/wireless device still doesn't connect then having a look whether theres an issue there. Check what adapter you have within the device and make sure the router it set up to accept connections from it.... B/G/N etc.
You've also got tech support with the router so you can chat to belkins via their online chat on the support page, an advisor should help you correcting the issues.
PM me if nothing works.

Re: Belkin N150
Had some trouble with a cheap N150, while trying to use nonstandard options (both TKIP & AES allowed).
To stick to "tight" standard, select WPA2 preshared key and AES, or WPA preshared key and TKIP, those seem to be far more likely to connect than other options, if devices are not smart enough to handle extra options.
