Re: Itv2,3,4,hd
ITV and Sky have an exclusive carriage deal for the HD channels at present. There is no published date I am aware of for the end of that deal, although it's bound to end at some point when ITV wants to start switching its SD broadcasts off. That could be some years away yet though.

Only exclusive on satellite.
Once again it comes done to money. ITV were presumably asking silly prices to carry these channels when they launched last year. Sky were prepared to pay, VM were (still are?) not.
Same presumably applies to the UKTV HD channels due to launch shortly.

Didn't Sky help out with the infrastructure as part of the deal?

The issue here is that ITV apparently thinks its additional channels are worth more than the market thinks they are worth. It has lost a tonne of advertising revenue over the last few years and it thinks it can plug the gap by getting a bit of the pay-TV action. It has managed to achieve a deal with Sky because Sky feels threatened by Freesat. It is in Sky's interests to make its basic subscription line-up as compelling as possible when compared with the free alternative. Sky is therefore willing to pay whatever stupid amount ITV has asked for.
On the other hand, VM is pursuing a strategy based around TV on demand. It has little to gain by paying over the odds for channels whose original content is largely confined to cycling and the bits of BGT that are so crap even ITV1 won't show them. If carrying those channels in HD doesn't benefit VM's business, then VM won't pay, and we are left with ITV2, 3 & 4 exclusive to Sky. For what it's worth.

Take time and read your first post were you state ITV have an exclusive deal with Sky for the ITV HD channels
Now read the following
ITV was in talks with other providers, Crozier said, including Virgin Media, but the deal was exclusive to Sky among satellite platforms.
But hey what does Adam Crozier know
The same old tired lines , every company wants to much.

ITV2 HD is ITV2’s digital station, it’s available on Sky and it’s bursting with the best bits of ITV2 in high definition. From October 7th, you’ll be treated to your current favourite ITV2 shows in HD, like Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries and The Xtra Factor. If that’s not enough, the unmissable The Only Way Is Essex is available in ITV2 HD, as well as the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Now!

How do I get ITV2 HD?
ITV2 HD is currently only available on Sky and you need to be a Sky+HD customer. You can find out more about Sky+HD and sign up here. If you're a Sky+HD customer you'll be able to find ITV2 HD on Sky channel 118.

They think that people will pay silly money for it, they might be right, but I won't be one of them.

ITV and Sky delude themselves to the value of their channels.

Funny that Den as the ITV HD channels seemed popular enough in this forum vote with ITV2 HD most popular.

So ... I say there's an exclusive deal, and you argue the point by quoting an article that says there's an exclusive deal?
Odd ...
