Wink I love my TiVo but I have a little gripe...?

Hello chaps & ladies

Okay, been using my TiVo since the 23rd June and I love it to bits, although it does have two annoying features which could do with updating other than that it's awesome.

1. When you press stop whilst playing a recording, up comes a menu with a list of options which is great apart from the fact, there isn't an option for stop...? The only way to actually stop is to press TV.

2. Deleted programs into a deleted folder is a great idea because there have been times when I have had beer goggles on and deleted the wrong program. D'oh! but, within reset TiVo there isn't an option to delete all deleted programs in the deleted folder. Otherwise if you forget... Oh boy it soon becomes a massive list of deleted programs which you have to delete manually and believe me it takes ages, because I have sat there fore 20 minutes deleting..?

Other than that I like my TiVo it does what I want, it programs well, no issues with controls like with V+ no glitches with channels it basically does what it says on the tin. Apart from those 2 issue above.

You don't have to touch them.

They'll get automatically removed when your Tivo needs the space for something else. Just ignore them.

Really... wow I didn't know that. although it would have been nice for an option to delete them all... another one I thought of whilst watching my TiVo tonight is the fact that the only way in which you can see how much is left of what you're watching is to pause and then look at the time remaining to watch your program. practical but a little annoying at the same time. its like having a frying pan with no handle. practice but pointless. "that's the kind of quote that Clarkson would come out with."

They already are deleted. The deleted items folder is just a list of what can be un-deleted. Even if you deleted them from the deleted items folder they'd still technically be there, you'd just be deleting them from the list. If your TiVo needs the space it'll record over them.

As mentioned you dont need to delete them from deleted items folder but I should also explain they dont take up any of your 'free space' (neither do suggestions)

Re: I love my TiVo but I have a little gripe...?

The "Gripe" I have is that unlike the V+ Box the Tivo does not have a "counter or channel setting" shown on the front, which results in having to use the ok button.and bringing up the info bar on the screen.

Re: I love my TiVo but I have a little gripe...?

Gotta gripe myself now, when I play music video's from VOD and for example any Alicia Keys vid the initial advert plays sound but the first 10 secs of the video are silent? I've posted this on the official forum and I'm just awaiting a reply. Did a quick search and this appears to be a known fault but the last update was May!? This too was on the official forum pages.

Re: I love my TiVo but I have a little gripe...?

I find that its very difficult to know if the Tivo is in standby as sometimes when I switch off using my Harmony remote amp and TV switch off but Tivo doesnt so when I switch on again the remote switches off the Tivo.

not yet, no. There is a big update in October, but no news of which bugs will be fixed.

Re: I love my TiVo but I have a little gripe...?

Thanks for that DF, another one of those things that bugs me but someone else might never had noticed!

Overall on the whole I'm impressed with TiVo, main gripes which needs fixing are red button and the useless stop button.

Thanks for taking the time to update me though DF.

As other have explained they will be removed when Tivo needs space, but if you want to remove them for your own reasons have you tried deleting the Deleted Items Folder itself rather than the contents?

I am not near the Tivo now, but this works for the suggested recordings. If I see nothing there I like i delete the folder itself.
