Faulty Box?
When I attempt to watch any on demand service the box freezes up about 10 seconds in, sometimes it works when I reboot the box but recently it isn't working properly. Should I call CS and ask for a new replacement box?
Or is this problem caused by something else?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Faulty Box?
It may be the STB, equally it could be signal levels or a server issue. If it is a regular problem at all times of the day then call faults. On demand can be a bit flakey at the server update times after midnight as the 7th day old stuff is pulled off the system.

Re: Faulty Box?
Well the box is extremely old, I'd still bet my money on it being the box.

Re: Faulty Box?
I'd bet my money on it not being the box. It would be unusual to have a box fault that affects VOD but nothing else.
But I bet they swap the box anyway

Well I'm not an expert I'm just going off a gut feeling, but it wouldn't hurt replacing the box, and a replacement is due seeing how old my current one.

Yes, but it would hurt if you lost all those recordings (ouch!)

Re: Faulty Box?
I work late most days and sit down to relax and watch a couple of recorded programmes at night and it drives me literally insanely bonkers that if I fast forward or rewind a recorded programme from literally midnight every single night that you have to sit with the programme stuck in fast forward or rewind until you switch off and reboot the box.if you let it go, it fast forward or rewinds until the end of the prog and the only way to get anything out of the frozen up state is to reboot.
Uuuuugggghh sick of stupid stuff like this. By the way VM customers services absolutely deny this problem exists

Different issue to the Op back in July, but are you talking about the V+ EPG update around midnight?
If so then it's a feature I'm afraid as it's the time the EPG updates on V+

Re: Faulty Box?
Yeah just had faulty box replaced and same thing happens. I understand calling it a feature but I would call it a major irritation and surely to goodness updates should not freeze up a v+ box every ingle nght

unfortunately it does freeze the box around that time. TiVo does not do this as it uses a different platform.

I cannot see any real updates to VM legacy tv platform now that TiVo is the now and the future!

Re: Faulty Box?
The updates that are being referred to are the updates to the EPG data.
