Re: tivo locks up

I have experienced lock-up issue/freezing but without the "Connection Down" message. Normally the box just resets itself a minute or so after freezing and is fine. I don't know what the reason is for it locking-up in the first place but it's a bit ridiculous if it does it if you have a lot on your hard drive.

I just put it down to occasional bugs and over time it would get ironed out. Tivo is still a new service so I guess we're bound to get issue like this cropping up now and again. If it's a persistent problem then it might be best to get back on to VM about it.

If it locks again use this key press chain

"Thumbs Down" "Thumb Up" then "Play" 3 times

The screen will go Black for a few seconds then it will return to "Main Menu"

That should sort it for you and save a re-boot

Thanks for that. I've had it happen a couple of times. Generally I think after I give it too many key presses too fast to cope with. I had it happen last night and ended up rebooting it to get it going again and was in the middle of recording something (luckily only one programme that has a repeat tomorrow).

Will try to remember this trick.
