l am not disputing that there is some good content on Sky Atlantic but it needs to be available to the widest audience as that is generally beneficial to all parties.

I completely agree, if Atlantic was on VM/BT vision then it gets more viewers and more advertising revenue hence a bigger budget so better programmes.

But I fear Sky want to keep it exclusive which is ok to a point, but if its exclusivity mean the demise of VM(Not an issue but needed to make my point) then that would be bad.

Would we have Sky Atlantic if there wasn't a Virginmedia? NOPE!

They are just rubbing it in VM's face anyway, cos Atlantic is just a rebranded Channel 1 which was V1 which was put up after VM lost Sky channels the last time.

To be fair, Sky Atlantic is a bit more than a re-branded Channel 1, there are considerably more quality new programmes on Atlantic that weren't, and would never have been, on Channel 1.

But everyone is still seething from the loss of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air which has now been demoted to a once in a blue moon airing on Sky Living Loves. What a disgrace.

I think if like me you are a fan of HBO Drama, Then Sky Atlantic represents quality TV as HBO are makers of Quality TV IMO ,and now are exclusive to Atlantic

I hope VM will do a deal, but I accept it will have to be commercially viable, if not I will continue to cherry pick the stuff I want and stump up my cash to iTunes

Don't you just hate it when you are into a TV Show, then you loose the ability to watch the final series, Hence my recent purchase of the final series of "The Wire" (Series 5 )

At least I now know what happened to Mc Naullty and Co in the end

Why don't you buy DVD's instead? iTunes often charge a 2x / 3x premium just so you don't have to wait for the postman delivering your purchase from Amazon. Plus with a little bit of effort you can still watch them on your devices.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

I also really hope Virgin do a deal.

At the moment I have V+ and that more than suits my needs but I know if Sky Atlantic HD was available I would need the extra memory of Tivo simply because of the number programmes there I would want to watch.

Surely the primary purpose of Tivo is to record multiple programmes to watch when you want and is therefore suited to recording multiple episode series' in HD, which would gobble up the memory of a V+? So without these what's the point?

I can't imagne I'm the only one who feels like this so surely it is in Virgin's interest to secure these channels to encourage take up of Tivo? I'm not anti-Tivo but as it stands V+ is enough for what Virgin offer me.

Well I watch them via Apple TV, and the download and streaming is just seamless,

It's just like having another TV channel that you can populate with your own content, so to watch a program it is just like changing a channel on TiVo box

I prefer that to messing around with DVD's, and staying in for the postman

The Wire HD series 5 cost me £12.99 (may be a bit more now since the Apple increase),

Amazon want 15.93 so not sure were you get the idea that iTunes charge a 2x/3x premium from? (see link below)

Apple TV, that makes sense. On more recent/popular releases they charge the earth especially for HD such as House, Scrubs and others.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

Broadcast: Scripps poised for UKTV deal.

Scripps Networks Interactive is on the verge of buying Virgin Media’s 50% stake in UKTV, and the British broadcaster is preparing to follow the deal by launching a VoD player.

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/b...030056.article

We may get the following as part of this deal:

-Broadcast is reporting that the new VoD player may launch on Virgin on Demand.
-We may also get Food Network as part of deal or we may see Good Food being rebrand as Food Network.
-Also part of any deal Virgin may get the rights to broadcast Good Food HD, Eden +1, Eden HD and Yesterday +1 for the 1st time on Virgin Media.
