Virgin Media - Channel 139, intermittent pixelation.

Has anyone noticed while viewing CH139 on Virgin Media every so often there is a pixelation issue.

Tech tested box signal today and he removed an attenuator and said the signals were now normal, however the pixelation still intermittently exists.

Seems ok here based on a quick test. How intermittent is it?

Do you get the same problem on channel 109?

It could happen anytime that's the problem, hard to put a time on it.

Well how often do you see it. Once a minute? Once a hour? Once a day?

Shame. There are no other M-pack channels on the same frequency.

It is intermittent, so to answer this is impossible.
For instance I could see the pixelation or as the CS support put it a loss of signal as soon as I view the channel or maybe 5 or 10 minutes into it.

I'd call 5 or 10 minutes frequent. In that case, I'd say it's a problem with your installation rather than the channel. Report it again.

I have actually reported this issue again earlier and I asked for a higher level technician, the chap on the phone said that an engineer had not been appointed at that time, so will I be able to call them tomorrow to request this, or do I have to accept whoever Virgin Media send out?

I ask because this appointment I have this week is a repeat as I had a visit only yesterday.

A repeat visit isn't unusual for intermittent faults. If the tech can't resolve it himself, he'll escalate to his manager.

The thing is though that he checked all the channels and said that after removing the attenuator that that would help, and because it sometimes doesn't show right away I would imagine that he doesn't have the time to wait until the issue shows, so my worry is that he will need to be called back a third time.

That's life. There isn't really an alternative. If a more senior tech was sent, it wouldn't be any more likely to happen.

True, but would be more than likely be able to find the issue that is ultimately causing the problem to persist.

Re: Virgin Media - Channel 139, intermittent pixelation.

i had Tivo installed about 6 weeks ago and just started getting pixelation erverytime i change my channel. it happens afe a few seconds and the picture breaks up and comes back to normal.

its a little annoying but i dont know if its a fault with the box or the signal maybe i should ring VM about it.

I wouldn't count on it. Sometimes intermittent faults are very difficult to track down.

Try rebooting the box. If that doesn't fix it, give VM a call.
