Do engineers ever install cable in walls?

I'm thinking of getting another box put in a room which currently has no wires (phone, aerial, etc) and its pretty much in the middle of the two existing VM installations.

Now apart from trailing wire across the floor, tacking to the ceiling or running it down stairs it cannot get to the point needed but their is a (relatively) easy method if it runs inside/through a thin wall.

Will engineers do this or trail/tack the cable?

Re: Do engineers ever install cable in walls?

Unless if it is a studded wall with no boards on it, I do not think that they will? As i think that it would cause more problems than it would solve.

This is just my opinion?

Its above a internal doorway? Might have to run the cable underneath the door if its not possible.

Can they not do the wiring from the point were your brown box is outside , take it on the exterior of your property then drill through and put a point in that room. Obviously this can't always be done when you have properties joined either side.

Its pretty much in the centre of the house in every direction.

Its more I'm not confident in installing the cable myself (or a draw wire if I'm understanding you correctly) than will they put the cable into the gap.

They will usually do anything as long as you do the preparation for them, so, if you make the hole through the wall in the correct place I'm sure they'll be willing to poke the cable through

Re: Do engineers ever install cable in walls?

Just do it yourself, ask the installer to leave you lots of various lengths of cable.

In my home I have a Ethernet and Skytv socket in everyroom and I'm in the process of replacing all the Sky faceplates/cables with twin faceplates/twincable so if needed sky+ can be fitted in every room.

If you ask VM to do this for you they will tac the cables along your skirting, which looks very council estate.

Just ask for the cable and do it yourself.
