Upgrading to Tivo and keeping VHD box

I'm in the process of upgrading to Tivo. I currently have a V+ box and a VHD box. I've seen some people talking about being able to keep an existing V+ box when upgrading to Tivo for free. Would I be able to do the same but with the VHD box as i'll have no need for the V+ box once I upgrade. I was asked at the time of ordering if I wanted to keep the V+ box but I said no as I haven't had the VHD box long (got it on the free online HD upgrade offer via self install) and nothing was mentioned about it being free to do this.

Cheers.

You can keep what you want as long as you pay the respective charges for doing so. I'm not sure of the monthly price difference, if any, between an additional V+ box and an additional V HD box. I have a feeling that once you have the box, and you currently have both, the multiroom monthly fee is the same for any box. I have 2 additional TiVo's, as well as the base one, and I don't think the price changed when I upgraded from my previous 3 V+ boxes. If it did it was negligable.

Call VM and ask for their best price.

I was called by Virgin after I had ordered Tivo (now installed and I am loving it) and told that I could keep my V+ box and have it installed anywhere in the house I wanted for free and no extra rental costs. I jumped at it and have it in one of the bedrooms. Brilliant service.
