Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?

I can see that all of them that got it for free will start to get e-mails saying that they now owe £99, To offset the difference for the refunds that are been given

I think most people would be happy if in fact the TiVo was a premium product but until they iron out the many flaws or start to deliver their "its in the pipeline" promises people will remain reluctant to pay the asking price.

Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?

What would be a realistic figure to expect for confirmed TiVo customers at the end of July? If pre registrations were 65,000 back in April, engineers have confirmed in this forum that they are installing them non-stop at the moment plus this month has seen a price slash then anything less than 110,000 would be a failure right? If you don't agree, what's your figure?

It would not surprise me if they had shifted 150.000 by the end of July.

Surely Virgin can't afford £3,250,000 worth of refunds?

I've posted before that I don't think TiVo is selling well, and now I'm starting to see the signs. There is no way Virgin would refund millions worth of pounds without good reason, so I don't think current subscribers are anywhere near 65,000. Maybe the rumour I heard about 10,000 subscribers isn't as far off the mark as I thought. Also the way the TiVo price has been slashed smacks of desperation, it's almost as if Virgin are having a fire sale from launch.

When are the next quarter results announced, is it the end of July? Looks like Virgin are desperately trying to push up the numbers of TiVo subscribers before the end of this month to avoid egg on their face?

Just to clarify, I'm a very happy Virgin customer but I'm not blown away by TiVo whatsoever. I would have liked them to focus on more channels and content ahead of this fancy PVR.
I'd hardly say they will be refunding millions of pounds at all.

EXACTLY my point! Just refunding 20,000 TiVo customers would "cost" virgin £1,000,000. That's why I believe the current uptake of TiVo is nowhere near what people are guessing or estimating. Just refunding 5000 TiVo customers their £49.00 would cost Virgin almost £250,000.

Yeah I understand that but it will be the majority of customers. Even if the 65,000 pre registrations back in April did eventually take TiVo, and only half of them are due a refund, that's still over £1,500,000 worth of returned money.

Re: Is the TiVo charge now £3 per month on all TV packs?

But the majority of customers will not see forums or know about the price drop so saying the majority are to be refunded is a bit of an exhageration.

Hi

As many of you will have seen, we have just launched the marketing campaign for Virgin Media TiVo. As part of this campaign we've decided to lower the price for the 1TB box to £99.95. We're conscious that the earliest buyers of this great product paid £149.95, which was an offer only available to existing Virgin Media XL TV customers at the time.

We want to ensure that those who bought TiVo early are not missing out on the more competitive price now available. We're therefore pleased to say that we'll be crediting all those customers who bought the 1TB box at £149.95 with the £50 difference. This will appear on your bill in the next two months. We'll be emailing all these customers shortly, to confirm this.

We hope that you'll continue to enjoy your TiVo experience, which we think is the best way to watch TV, ever!

Thanks for your support

Alex

Well it seems whatever the original plan was its all sorted now. Companys don't always get things right 1st time, but if they don't showing they have listened to customers is all we can ask.

I think in this case VM have clearly listened and acted within a couple of days.
I have read Daboz post and cannot see where he said people were going to be put on a blacklist , it seemed more like a question to me. In no way shape or form did he suggest if people complained they would defo be put on a blacklist so your post leaves me
