Advice Please
I'm currently with VM for broadband. I've had a few bad experiences in the past, I don't like the fact people are still able to clone macs etc. even though VM have sort of made it harder, I've been a victim of this in the past, partly myself to blame as I didn't secure my setup including PC correctly but even with a secure setup, people do still manage to clone as at the end of it.. it is the modem thats being cloned. I've recently read that the new superhubs are harder to clone but the superhub itself has many issues, I was thinking of upgrading to one of these to avoid being a victim of cloning but I just can't be bothered with the hassle anymore.
I'm now thinking of moving to another provider, TalkTalk, Sky, BT.... can someone please advise which would work out the best, reliable, cheapest and tell me whether its harder to clone these companies services? I'm currently paying 30 odd £ for my VM services.
I'll need
Landline + (current number being transfered)
Unlimited usage
Speed - most of the deals I've seen start at upto 20 Mb... sounds good.
I've searched Sky and TalkTalk, both stated I'll need an install with my place not having a line to get their services and no mention regarding line rental? is that additional? I've always been with cable, never had ADSL so I don't have a clue and would appreciate any help.

Re: Advice Please
Without going into the details of it, the Superhub is as easily clonable as the rest of the modems. VM have other measures working on the network that are increasing the numbers of cloned modems caught though.

Re: Advice Please
right ok, cheers Stuart
I've been told by someone to go with BT with their speed being reliable but see info below. Could others on the forum with ADSL/experience/knowledge please give their opinions.
So far I've seen
BT Infinity - £28 a month plus line rental (£120 advanced payment or £13.90 every month
Quote:
Your broadband checker results
BT Infinity - 27.7Mb download - 6.4Mb upload

I take it that will increase after an engineer has installed ?

TalkTalk Plus - £7.25 plus £12.60 line rental
I couldn't check speed with me not currently not having a line
https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/product/broadband/plus
Sky Broadband Unlimited with calls - £19.75 a month plus Sky Line Rental £12.25 (Sky TV subscription required, otherwise £22.25. Set-up costs may apply)
http://www.sky.com/shop/broadband-talk/bundles/
by the way as asked above, can BT (infinity - fibre optic), Sky, TalkTalk be cloned like VM?

Re: Advice Please
I don't understand why you have this "clone issue" Even if your MAC was cloned it wouldn't be usable in your area so wouldn't effect your speed and even if a cloned mac was used elsewhere it has no effect on your account.

Re: Advice Please
Kymmy neither do I. My broadband speed jumps, VM don't know why, an engineer has been out already. A reboot of all equipment settles it for a while but then it starts jumping again, becomes slow etc. I've been capped several times in the past when I haven't even got close to traffic management. My router firewall has picked up smurf attacks, its hassle I'd rather get away from now. Although my firewalls blocks DoS etc. to some degree, I'm not happy my paid services are like this. I'd rather just move to another ISP where this isn't possible or atleast hardly happen.

Re: Advice Please
Everything you describe is definately NOT caused by cloning..
DoS attacks can hit you no matter which ISP you're with.. All they need is your IP..
Are you in a high user area? If so then you're more than likely to find that your problems are caused by over subscription and is likely to be a lot worse on ADSL..
