Re: virgin media 12 month contracts when never signed a contract?

The contract length is mentioned in the T&Cs I think and by agreeing to have the service installed that is you agreeing to the contract period.

Virginmedia will say by keeping there services and paying your first bill you are deemed to have accepted the 12 month contract.

Firstly send a letter the debt collector telling them you are going to dispute the claim. They will drop it like a hot rock if they think any of the watchdogs might get involved.

Then ask Virginmedia to send you either the signed contract or a recording or the phonecall that they say is you agreeing a 12 month contract. Because its unfair to ASSUME you knew you were entering a new 12 month contract.

To be honest as for as much as I have had more than our fair share of contract or not issues lol. In this case if it's a new customer in there first contract as I get the impression to be the case?. Then any new customer would not be offered any contract of less than a 12 month period for the first time?.

If however it's been a change of services after a minimum period and you were then on a regular price than a offer price then they really cant charge more than a months fee to cover the cost of a months notice unless they have evidence of you agreeing or signing for a minimum period.

Were you told before receiving the contract in the post that it's a new contract\minimum period or was the post the first you knew of it?. Also when you upgraded was that including a special offer price or was it the same standard price after any half price for 3\6 months etc thats advertised on there website?.

I knew it was a new contract from all that I read online..Also the special thing that made me apply was that we had an XL TV package already so we could get free HD activation as an existing customer. To be honest I would not have been phased if I hadn't already twigged it would be a new contract because I've no intention of leaving VM at least for the next 2 years.
