Exclamation Intermitant problems with my Mercedes

Hey all,

Was wondering if any knew the problem I'm having, I have a Mercedes Benz A class, and sometimes when you zap the car with the key fob the car acknowledges this (alarm sets in, lights flash etc...) but the doors won't lock?
anyone seen/heard of this problem before?
I called up my breakdown insurance provided through my bank(green flag) and the man came out from a third party company didn't have a CLUE what was going on his advice was to lock the doors manually, he couldn't even see the owners manual properly and started fiddling with the fuses at the front, didn't seem very knowledgeable with it a tall!! anyway I explained that I cannot lock them manually as everything is tied in with the electrics, so he said 'your area seems safe enough, will just have to keep it unlocked' - I was fuming with this, has anyone got any idea what it could be? I desperately need advice on this, I did some searching Online and it seems it may be something called a central locking pump, as you might have gathered I don't know anything about cars,

thanks

Re: Intermitant problems with my Mercedes

Any interior lights staying on inside the car including the boot?
does it lock and unlock straight away when you zap it?

any strange jamming devices been put in the vicinity of your car?

Re: Intermitant problems with my Mercedes

Hi Gary, thanks for the very quick reply !
um with the locking it goes in kinda slow motion takes a moment to lock down, but then a kind of humming noise comes on and then goes silent (cars then locked), when it works I zap it and it does lock straight away (well like I explained above, slowly but straight away of that makes sense), no strange devices put in the car no.

Thanks

Re: Intermitant problems with my Mercedes

Hi Hom3r

thanks for that link, least I can now lock the doors manually which is better than me leaving it open as a risk...

I just wish Mercedes would make their cars more user friendly!

Re: Intermitant problems with my Mercedes

Hey all think I've cracked the problem!
the Central locking pump is on its way out
but until the part arrives just going to have to manually lock the thing!!!
Well where on the subject...
does anyone own a MB?
If so 1 more question (promise) I have been looking EVERYWHERE for 1 single part ill explain, by the front small window (near the bonet, the triangluar shape one) there is a black plastic part just as a design I believe, well around that traingular part (plastic bit) the rubber has worn? the seal do you know anywhere I can buy one I have tried everywhere and it has now come to the extend that I will pay what ever for it (within reason of course!) by the way my car is the Mercedes Benz A Class
