Personally I agree , the problem is with XL and VIP customers paying £3.00 a month its logical to think it would cost more on lower packs. There is no way they will get 100% of people on TIVO in 2-3 years like Cindy Rose stated without some free option.

l am sure 2 or 3 years down the track Virgin will probably get rid of the 3.00 monthly fee.

I was under the impression that the Tivo charge ie.the £3 and £8 was a charge set by TiVo and not Vm, someone with more information will confirm this or not.

Actually you can't get TiVo on m, only m+. If you want new technology it comes at a price!

---------- Post added at 20:19 ---------- Previous post was at 20:17 ----------

It's £5 'pvr' fee and £3 TiVo fee, if it wasn't priced like that the v+ would be more expensive than tivo

Yes you are correct , but at them prices the 100% figure won't happen for sometime.

It has been said that the V HD will run tivo software though which isn't of course a pvr and presumably wouldn't attract a £3/month charge nor the £5/mth pvr charge. Maybe those that don't want to pay extra would end up with a box like that. I would imagine mainly they want to convert everybody over to MPEG4 and the sooner the better.

Yep spot on , I can see that happening as I said earlier there needs to be a free option to get 100% TIVO customer base.

I can see the samsung 2110 being in circulation for the next 7 years. There are still pace 1000s out there

You could well be right. VM's finances are improving though so perhaps their intention is to make a big investment in bringing customer hardware up to date. Would be good if that were to happen but who knows what their plan is.

That's how I understand it; people on M+ and L have to pay £5 anyway to get recording functionality on a V+ box, and the £3 is the Tivo charge, so the £8 for M+ and L is not a rip off, but standard pricing.

Knowing Virgin, the only way they will get rid of the £3 fee is by increasing it. I've had 5 price rises on my xl tv package in just over 12 months, ok the vat increase was not virgins fault.

Re: Tivo rip off TV M TV L customers

Five price rises? Sounds a bit unfair.

I am on XL, and I have had 2 Price rises in the last 12 months (VAT and a £1 increase in April 2011) - what other increases have they put on you?
